About this listing
This is a red-brick, period house very close to the city centre, with public transport 30 seconds away! There are museums, art galleries and parks within walking distance and the immediate community is lively and interesting.
Double bedroom in redbrick terraced house in the quiet area of Kilmainham with a shared bathroom.
I am a painter and have a lot of art hanging on the walls. Many of my neighbours are artists and musicians.
The National Museum of Decorative Arts and History, Kilmainham Gaol Museum and the Irish Museum of Modern Art are also close by - as are all the major art galleries, museums and parks in the city centre (3km). Public transport is practically on the doorstep and you can either walk to the centre (25 minutes) or take a bus (10 minutes) or Luas Tram (15 minutes).
The Phoenix Park is 1.5k from the house and is the largest public park in Europe with beautiful trees and wildlife. The gardens in IMMA are beautiful to walk in and the Garden of Rememberance is close by too.
Guests have limited access to the kitchen for tea, coffee but cooking is not permitted. However, a continental breakfast is supplied up to 11.00am. Soap, shampoo and conditioner are available.
Interaction with Guests
I have enjoyed having all the guests who have stayed - they have all been exceptionally nice people. I work from home so I am here most of the time.
It's a lovely, quiet neighbourhood with lots of interesting people living around. It's very close to beautiful parks and museums and an easy walk to the city centre. The famous Kilmainham Gaol Museum is a must-see for those interested in Irish history. The Phoenix Park is one of the largest public parks in the world and our President resides there. The Museum of Modern Art is very close too.
Public transport is very convenient. There is a regular bus service from the end of the road - every 10-15 minutes to the city centre (taking 10 minutes to get there) and the Luas tram is a five-minute walk away. There is also easy access to the main railway stations and the airport bus. There is only on-street, metered parking available.
Other Things to Note
Like most people, my main concern is security and safety: remembering to close windows, turn off gas and lock up.
The room is for rent to not more than 2 people. I expect guests to be security conscious - remembering to close bedroom windows and to lock up when they leave.
I don't allow pets and smoking is not permitted inside. As the house is old, I ask people to be patient and kind with it!
the room in the beautifull 100 year old house was very very nive and clean. also the bathrooms, the kitchen, the little garden... everywhere we found beautifull paintings made from anne and the whole house is very inviting - and so was anne, very lovely person. the house is not in the citycenter but in this way we took a lot of walks and saw some other things of dublin. for exampel a little fox in our street. we will come back!
The place is cozy and calm, the host is very welcoming and kind and offers many an advice as to what not to miss in Dublin and beyond. City bikes, bus stops, tram stop, all literally round the corner, combined with a nice and peaceful neighborhood make the house a great choice for any traveler. Anne is knowledgeable about Dublin as well as things to see out of the capital, and she is a very kind person, always trying to help out when possible. House was clean, cozy, and calm, with a magical little backyard garden. It was a pleasure to be hosted there and I definitely recommend staying at Anne´s!
This was my first time ever using Airbnb and Anne was an amazing host. Helpful, friendly, and understand. She had maps and food for us when we showed up and took care of us every step of the way. I couldn't have asked for a better first experience!
Anne was extremely gracious and accommodating. We were running late and had managed to go to the wrong address and she was still quite happy to see us. It's a cozy little house and our room was quite comfortable.
Anne is just lovely and our experience at hers just perfect. She took care about anything needed, wait for us even we arrived late, nice breakfast provided, all grand! The house is very cosy, perfectly clean, wonderful terrace... The house is not far from the center walking, 25min aprox., anyway there is good combination for getting there by public transport. We really had good craic over there :) Thanks Anne!!
We had a great time at Annes' place. She is a very kind person who always tries to help and gives good advises. The room was big, clean and comfortable. It was great to sit in the little garden behind the house and have a coffee. I'd go there again! Thank you Anne!

About the Host, Anne
I live in Kilmainham, very close to Dublin city centre in a period redbrick house which is very typical. It's close to museums, parks and transport. I love travelling especially to Spain and Italy - I prefer culture to beach holidays and I also love skiing and walking holidays. I often have friends and family stay so I'm used to visitors and quite relaxed about sharing my home. I am an artist and an acupuncturist - an odd mix but I get to work from home and decide how I spend my time!
