About this listing
The summer cottage is on a lakeside in Central Finland. It´s a traditional Finnish summer cottage with a sauna by the lake and a lawn to lay on if that´s your preferred activity on summer days. The forest is right there to walk in, warm the sauna, to pick berries (if the season is right) or sit in one of the swings and just enjoy the peace and quiet.
We offer you three bedrooms, two in the main building and one in the same building with the sauna. A moderately equipped kitchen (owen, stowe, microwave owen, coffee maker, water kettle, no running water). A living room, space outside and a small play room furnished for children to play in.
Unfortunately there is public transportation only to a distance of couple of kilometers. It´s walkable only if you are an enthusiast. We recommend for you to come with bicycles or a car. Taking a taxi is also possible, but not really cheap.
Also unfortunately the cabin is not really good for winter time. The fall and spring are possible, but during winter you cannot get there by car and keeping the place warm would be a lot of trouble.
We hope you can leave the place as you found it, or even nicer. So clean up after your stay, so that the next quests (or us) will be happy to stay there too!
We had a lovely stay at the cabin. The photos don't do it justice- it is so so beautiful. It is also peaceful. The sauna was a great experience for the whole family and a good way to relax at the end of the day. The cabin inside is simple yet beautiful and has everything you need to be comfortable.
The cabin is near a quiet lake, in a really quiet place. No noise will come disturb you. The cabin itself is spacious, with two bedrooms. There is no water, but there is a well outside, so you don't really need it. Electricity works fine.
It's not a big luxurious place, but if you like wild nature, it should be ok. It was clean and dry, and it's easy to access.
The place was incredible - like something from an illustrated childrens novel. I couldn't have imagined anywhere more beautiful. There is a private sauna & a wee pier to the lake, a well to pump water from, an outdoor toilet & plenty of firewood. My stay couldn't have been better. The house is a little challenging to find, so make sure you come equipped with very clear directions.
The stay has been really great. This is a beautiful and quiet location. Very comfortable bedrooms and a very beautiful view on the lake from the dining room! The sauna by the lake is also a treat. Hope to come there again some day.
We spent some relaxing days in Eekkus Cabin,
which is situated at a beautiful lake.
It is bigger than I supposed from the pictures.
In the beginning we were suprised, the cabin had no bathroom or running water, but i guess this was what "traditional" meant.
Unfortunately the wheather was to bad to go swimming most of the days.
Eekku is a nice host, who answered to our questions emediately.
Eekku's little cabin was really great.
We had a really great time living the Finnish way of life for few days.
The place looks better than the pictures. There is plenty of place and the location is really quite.
The Lake nearby is a blast, the view is splendid.
Eekku was available any time we had question and we had no problem getting the key or giving it back.
I would really recommend any travellers this place to stay for few days.
To summarize in short: the cabin is great. :-)
We only had one night for exploring the cabin and the lake but enjoyed our stay very much. The sauna was easy to use though we were only used to go to electric heated ones before. The cabin was clean and cozy.
The cabin is easy to find and in a very quiet location. We had no problems getting the key in Jyväskulä. I hope I can return somewhen for some days more.

About the Host, Eekku
I´m a 33-year old person from Helsinki. I work as the Customer Service Manager in one of the most visited tourist places in Helsinki. I travel for both work and fun and I don´t really enjoy hotels that much. Places with no life and no bookshelves are uninteresting, peoples homes and their bookshelves are a better setting for any travel.
