Gorgeous, all-private, mid-century duplex above the boulevard.
Easy one mile walk to downtown Ashland, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Lithia Park.
Owners live next door. We are happy to help you with suggestions or leave you with your privacy. He is an Ashland native and she is from Alaska.
The space is private, one level, approximately 800 sq ft, with stairs leading up to a large deck and great views of the valley and Grizzly Peak. Inside is nicely furnished with a full kitchen, full bathroom, washer and dryer, and a very comfortable queen bed in the larger bedroom. The smaller bedroom is a quiet sitting area sans a bed.
The neighborhood is a mix of medical offices, homes, condominiums and there is a small park across the street. The bus stop is three blocks away. Our favorite breakfast spot, The Breadboard, is just a few blocks away.
Plenty of room to relax and it is perfect for one or two people.

Throughout the process of booking, arriving and departing, Claire was ace at communicating with us, answering our questions and making us feel welcome. We were really touched to arrive to find a bottle of wine from the winery where we were married locally, very sweet and greatly appreciated gesture! The apartment itself was large, clean and comfortable and very conveniently located off the main roadway into downtown Ashland. The record player was fantastic to have a go with on a night in. We visit Ashland every spring time and will definitely be requesting to stay here next time!
This was a lovely modernist house, beautifully furnished with a fascinating collection of original vintage furniture and decor. The house was much larger than we expected, with lots of storage space. It has big kitchen with the added bonus of a washer and dryer.
Claire was just great - she was extremely friendly and welcoming and very concerned that we had everything we needed. From the house it was a pleasant 15-20 minute walk into town, through a peaceful and quiet residential neighbourhood. Previously we stayed in Ashland at a "traditional" B & B and at a very corporate hotel. Staying at this house was a far more enjoyable experience in every way - and far more affordable as well.
Great view and a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed our Ashland stay. Clarie was very welcoming and helpful.
I had a great stay in Charles & Claire's home in Ashland - they are good hosts. The place is furnished really nicely and a relaxing environment. Its a nice quite spot and only a short walk into the main streets of Ashland.
Claire and Charles have a great place. They were very welcoming, gave us ideas of places to eat, and were respectful of our privacy. I would happily stay here again.
We very much enjoyed our stay. We spent one night in Ashland to go to a play at the famous theater. We were able to walk there in about a half an hour. Claire gave us good directions that helped us avoid most traffic. All in all Claire was very gracious and most helpful and flexible. The bed we slept in was one of the most comfortable that we had been in for a long time.
It should be noted that there are two significant flights of stairs to get to the front door of the property. I would not suggest this for anyone who has a mobility impairment. Otherwise I would not hesitate to recommend this property.
This was our first Airbnb experience, and though it was a fair value, I disagree with all the five star ratings. Overall, this was a three star experience.
Positives: Friendly host, quiet neighborhood, close enough to walk to everything important in Ashland, inexpensive, comfortable furniture, well equipped
Negatives: Cleanliness issues (explained below), noisy heat
What soured us the most in a mostly pleasant visit were the cleanliness issues that we noticed. The cloth place mats had some small food stains on them, which looked very recent, presumably from previous occupants. The kitchen linens were dingy gray instead of white. The non-slip mat in the bathtub was dirty, and there were a few hairs in the tub from the previous occupant as well. The rug in the bathroom was very dirty. We're not neat freaks by any stretch, but though this space was very tidy and had a lot of thoughtful touches, we were a little grossed out by the bathroom and kitchen cleanliness issues.
Regarding the heat, it's baseboard heat, which is fine as long as you don't try to use it while you're sleeping. The first night we thought we would keep the bedroom heat on a little because it was chilly. But every time the heat cycles on and off, it's accompanied by lots of metallic ting-ting-ting-click-clack-clang sounds. Neither of us got much sleep that night, and so just left it off the next night.
As others have loved this home, perhaps the cleanliness items were an isolated incident. Had they not existed, the review would have been four stars. There's just no way this is five stars though. Five stars is the highest you can get. Five stars is perfection. This was quaint, but nowhere near perfection.
