Mid-century duplex one mile from downtown. Please read the house rules before booking.

The space

Gorgeous, all-private, mid-century duplex above the boulevard.

Easy one mile walk to downtown Ashland, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Lithia Park.

Owners live next door. We are happy to help you with suggestions or leave you with your privacy. He is an Ashland native and she is from Alaska.

The space is private, one level, approximately 800 sq ft, with stairs leading up to the front door. There is a large deck and great views of the valley and Grizzly Peak. Inside is nicely furnished with a full kitchen, full bathroom, washer and dryer, and a very comfortable queen bed in the larger bedroom. The smaller bedroom is a quiet sitting area without a bed.

The neighborhood is a mix of medical offices, homes, condominiums and there is a small park across the street. The bus stop is three blocks away. Our favorite breakfast spot, The Breadboard, is just a few blocks away.

Plenty of room to relax and it is perfect for one or two people.

Approved as a traveler's accommodation by the City of Ashland.

Claire was there to greet us and made us feel welcome. The duplex is roomy and comfortably furnished. It has an old fashioned stereo console with great old records and a unique camera collection.

Described as "mid-century" is euphemistic for old and in need of a makeover. It was clean and not far from the downtown area and Claire is nice and helpful. However our many stays at other properties have set a high standard.

This was a great stop through for me on a road trip! Close to downtown and restaurants! Claire and Charles pay close attention to detail with their home and the cleanliness was so very much appreciated!! I recommend this place to stay 100%!!

We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back. We loved the 70's style furniture & decor. We appreciated the air conditioning a lot, and we were quite tickled upon being greeted by deer in the front yard when we arrived. The kitchen was well-stocked, including an array of quality tea bags to choose from. All in all, this home was a fantastic value in a destination city. It was exactly what we were looking for!

My girlfriend and I spent a night here en route up to Portland throughout a 2 week long west coast road trip. This was the best little stop for us! We loved the small town with beautiful views and a really lovely neighborhood. This home was really easy to check in to and so adorable.. it was so detail orientated and perfected with the BEST design. We had a great time looking though their books, playing with the view-master, and enjoying the deck. There's a sweet pear tree right out front and a nice marketplace is only a few min away. Overall, it was perfect for us.

Overall, I gave it 5 stars, because I thought it was good value for money and fine for my needs as a solo traveler in town for the Shakespeare Festival. That said, I'm not sure I would call it "gorgeous", implying someplace I might go want for a special or romantic occasion. Rather, I thought it was more "basic" or "utilitarian", although still a quite good value.

I would stay here again if I was on a working trip for few days and needed a clean, no frills utilitarian place to sleep. The bed is memory foam and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet but a bit too far to walk into the theater district. The bathroom needs updating. If you're looking for a romantic, charming getaway this is probably not the best choice.

Response from Claire & Charles:
Ron was a no-thrills utilitarian. His memory seemed a wee bit spongy. He was quiet, too weary to walk to town. A makeover wouldn't be the worst idea. A romancer he is not.
