The Space

The upper Great Room is where you will find your space. This is a very large open room, with an arch way that leads from the dining room into the Great Room. The Great Room is shared (my computer area is located on the opposite end from the futon area), but privacy screens are situated near the futon and also, at the computer. Near the computer area you will find the door that leads into the upper bathroom for your use. This is a shared bathroom. The dining room is located about 20' from the futon. The interior staircase, that connects the two levels of the house, comes into the dining room space, but also is is at the end of the house, underneath the futon.

Guest Access

Downstairs Great Room, upstairs Great Room, dining room, two shared bathrooms, back deck and refrigerator upon request. Parking is located directly in front of the residence. Kitchen use is limited, but just inquire and I can always arrange something that will work for you. As stated in the listing, I do have a washer and dryer if you need to use them. Fee is $5/wash & dry, and payable before use.

Interaction with Guests

I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know each other better - if this is desired by guests. Otherwise, quiet time and peace are welcomed in my home.

The Neighborhood

My home is located in the Springs of Sonoma, a community with many families, middle-class workers, and summer homes in the hills. Sonoma Mission Inn is right down the road, as is Barking Dog Coffee House and neighborhood restuarants like Mary's Pizza Shack. Olde Sonoma Pub is across the street from that, a favorite for locals, and a short 10-minute bike ride.

Getting Around

Lift, Uber and taxi cabs are available in the valley. There is a downtown Sonoma bus stop across my street if you need bus access. There is also a bus stop down the street that serves Santa Rosa.

Other Things to Note

If you do not have a Airbnb profile filled out, before I can accept your request, please fill out your profile so I know something about you. I do not accept requests until I know something about you. As this is a private home, I need to know something about the guests I invite into my house.
We have two cockatiels, who reside upstairs. They enjoy "singing" in the morning, but usually only if they are uncovered. They are covered until guests arise. Our dog also resides upstairs and has his private space, so he does not roam throughout the house.

When using the futon, other Airbnb guests may be staying in one of the downstairs rooms. If this is the case, I will leave a note on the dining room table letting them know of your presense. If you plan to sleep in, you may be awakened because of activity in the dining area. The reason for this is your space is only 20' from the dining room.

House Rules

Please remove shoes upon entering front door. Having a dirt and gravel driveway makes it easy to bring in part of the driveway upon entering. Also, I have softwood flooring, so it can be easily damaged by shoes. Guests leave shoes near the entry door which is also where you will find the guest slipper baskets. These are for your use while staying here - please leave near the futon upon leaving, so I can wash them. If time allows, it is very helpful for the sheets to be removed from the bed and the blankets folded. California is in a drought and I save water in the bathroom and kitchen. In the upstairs bathroom, I have a shower bucket and a sink bowl, used to catch running water, which is mostly used to water house plants. Let me know if you need further details. I also have compost, recycling and trash containers, in the kitchen area, for all to use. Please let me know if you need to know what goes into these separate containers.
