Relaxing Historic Downtown 2BR Home

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Coming Street, Charleston, SC 29403, United States

The Space

Enjoy a stay in this turn of the century Charleston single style house that was built in the early 1900s. We renovated the house top to bottom in 2011. The house is a duplex with my husband and I living on the second floor, you would be staying in the first floor, two bedroom apartment. The nightlife of upper King Street is easily accessible and within walking distance. With a free trolley that picks up 5 blocks away (8 minute walk), picking up every 15 minutes starting at 7:16am. The trolley will take you all over the peninsula.

The apartment includes a full modern kitchen with a refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, oven, and all the basic utensils, a washer/dryer in a separate laundry closet, an updated bathroom, and closets in all the bedrooms for storage. There are lots of windows that let in the light in the morning and the sunset in the evening; you will also have a private door that leads into your first floor apartment. The bedrooms each feature a queen size bed and a ceiling fan. There is a flat panel TV in the living room with DirecTV. You can also enjoy free WiFi in your apartment.

Come enjoy your home away from home in this private, beautifully renovated Charleston Single.

  • My sister and I were delighted with our accommodations and our hosts. They were readily available to answer questions and address our requests. The home itself has been fairly recently renovated and exhibits nice clean lines and interesting decorating touches. We would have benefitted from additional floor lamps perhaps - senior eyes require a little more light!

  • We loved our stay in Kristyn's home this weekend!! She was extremely helpful and friendly. Her home was warm and inviting. It was a convenient location and parking was not a problem. My favorite part was the shower. Oh. My. Gosh. I ordered the same shower head the moment I returned home yesterday. Thank you so much for making a memorable weekend possible.

  • Two of us spent five days here during our first visit to Charleston. The apartment is very clean, uncluttered and comfortable. The neighborhood is in the process of gentrifying and there isn't anything withing walking distance. Downtown is a direct 15 minute drive down King Street. Parking on the street was easy near the house, but figure on paying for a garage in town.

We didn't have any interaction with the hosts, which we thought was odd given our experience with other B&Bs, but maybe they were just respecting our privacy. It's just nice to feel welcomed to a place you've never been and to have a little conversation. Pretty much everything we needed was provided (but also odd, we had to buy our own toilet paper once what was provided ran out). Since the intention seems to be to offer a comfortable environment, enough nice, white fluffy towels would help, rather than the skimpy one towel, hand towel and facecloth we received. Women especially need an extra towel for hair.

All in all we would look for a place downtown on our next visit so it's more conducive to going back to the room to freshen up for the evening after a day out.

    Response from Kristyn:

I'm so sorry to hear that not everything was to your liking! Regarding the toilet paper, there were 8 rolls available for your use and more stored up high out of the way. If you had let me know you ran out I would have gladly gotten more down for you. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance several of which I recommended to you when you asked about spots that cater to vegetarians. There was also a washer and dryer for your use to clean the towels. I wish you would have texted, called, or simply walked upstairs and knocked on my door, I would have liked the opportunity to make your stay more pleasant!

  • We enjoyed our first family vacation at this tastefully decorated and super comfortable home. Kristyn was kind enough to provide a pack n' play for our four month old (sparing us the hassle of lugging one on the plane), and the location was within an easy walking distance of downtown. Kristyn was very responsive to emails and check-in and check-out was a breeze. We had no trouble finding street parking during the three days we were here, even though there were several events going on that weekend in Charleston. Highly recommended. Thank you, Kristyn!

  • Nice apartment and great location 1 block off King Street. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely book again.

  • My husband, 18 month old son and I spent three days at Kristyn's house. We had a wonderful stay. It was a great location, close to many attractions and restaurants we wanted to try. She had a pack n play and a highchair for my son to use which made traveling so much easier. Having a place to have some down time with a child was key. The house was beautiful and well maintained. I would highly recommend this house for anyone with kids.

  • We loved staying in this stylish, spacious apartment on a quiet residential street in Charleston. The apartment is beautifully decorated and Kristyn is a perfect host, friendly and helpful and quiet. We found it easy to park on the street right across from the house, and we enjoyed walking to great local restaurants like the Hominy Grill and Butcher & Bee.

  • We had an amazing time at this charming home! The location was perfect for our trip, everything was clean, neat, and exactly as Kristyn said it would be. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone, and we would be happy to stay here again. Kristyn is a great host and was happy to provide recommendations for walking routes and anything else we requested. Our group of four adults and one baby were very comfortable in this home. Thanks Kristyn!

  • Kristyn's apartment was amazing. It was super clean, a really new remodel, and she even put out mini shampoo/conditioner/lotion bottles for us. She has a great book of references as well. Wifi and cable were included.

While it was no issue for us, the only watchout is that it's in an up and coming neighborhood, so if you are looking to stay right in 'downtown' Charleston, it may not be the best fit for you. Like I mentioned, we love walking and it was no issue for us.

  • There were 5 of us and it worked fine. My daughter slept on the couch which she said was
very comfortable . The one bathroom was great and we all took turns and it worked out great!
The queen beds were very comfortable and it was a quiet neighborhood too. We would definitely return there for certain.

About
I was born and raised in Southern California, I married a local Charleston boy, and we are now living in Charleston, SC. I went to school for Education and taught preschool for 5 years before marrying my husband. My husband owns his business, making furniture and lighting out of steel, as well as many of the beautiful iron works that are in downtown Charleston. I now work with him running the office side of the company while he oversees the production of the pieces. Being a California girl transplanted in the south makes me homesick sometimes but Charleston really has a bit of everything. I love being able to go to the beach and actually get in the water without freezing! My husband and I are foodies, we love going out to eat and experiencing different restaurants, which Charleston has so many of; but staying at home and cooking up a delicious meal is just as fun sometimes. I have gotten into running lately and take my dog out in the morning for a jog around the neighborhood, this has also helped me to get to know the people around me. Reading is my other past-time, I love curling up with a good book and getting lost for a few hours. So in the morning you can find me jogging and in the evening you will find me reading! I love to travel and my favorite place so far has been Australia. I went for 2 weeks and have been wanting to go back ever since. I also loved Aruba, just the idea of an island that is also a desert was very intriguing and interesting to see. Traveling to Europe is on my bucket list, I have never seen it and would really love to! When I travel I tend to steer clear of the more tourist spots and go somewhere a local has suggested. I feel that you get a better idea of the city you are in that way. Although I usually do one day of tourist activities, "getting my tourist on " as I call it. Photos are wonderful and I can't get enough when I'm traveling, I also like to scrapbook so little mementos are also kept from places I visit. That is why we included different restaurants for you to experience in Charleston, places that aren't touristy and are some staples of ours.
