I'm Mark an artist, a painter and L.M.T. My wife, Wendy, is an actress, comedienne and singer. We have a charming, arty, house in the Richmond neighborhood in the southeast of Portland. Its an easy walk to the Clinton St. theater to the west or the Bagdad theater on Hawthorne boulevard to the north with all kinds of shops and restaurants nearby. Division St. a block away with Pok Pok, Ava Gene's, Bollywood Theater, Salt and Straw for ice cream, fabulous food carts and Nuestra Cucina as well as numerous smaller bakeries and coffee shops has become quite the foodie destination street with vintage and novelty shops as well. Walk down through our tree lined residential neighborhood to the little Clinton "village" that has art galleries, restaurants, a coffee house, Broder's restaurant noted for the best breakfasts in town, as well as the Clinton Theater with interesting unusual movies and the longest running Rocky Horror Picture show on Saturday nights.
We have a garden around the house with interesting sitting areas and a deck with a hot tub... an in house spa if you like. Wendy and I both like to cook and like to host guests for breakfasts here. We had friends stay in our guest room before and we thought - why not host a friend we haven't met yet So if you're new to Airbnb be sure to fill in your profile page and post an accurate picture of yourself so we can get an idea of who we might be inviting into our home. If you don't post a photo or write a description of yourself on your profile page don't expect to be invited to stay here with us, consider what it would be like to invite a complete unknown to your house, kind of scary, actually. So be fair, meet us half way through the Airbnb way before you request to visit us.
We would be an ideal place for a single person to come and enjoy a homey, arty place with personality while staying in an interesting Portland neighborhood. We could accommodate two by adding a futon and convert the twin to a queen sized bed. There is a $15 fee for an extra person that we settle before you arrive through Airbnb.
We can point you towards all kinds of interesting things to see and do nearby and throughout the city. Mostly we want you to be comfortable and enjoy a nice stay in an interesting neighborhood with accommodating hosts.

You will keep your key for the duration of your stay and can come and go at your leisure. This is your home now! Check in time 11am or any time after that. Unless there is a late plane or special problem, check in time is no later than ten o'clock at night . Wendy and I rarely eat together in the morning as she has her special food program. You can help yourself to granola, fruit, breakfast bars, crackers, nuts, dried fruit, tea or juice in our kitchen. When I am practicing massage there needs to be quiet. When I am practicing the violin, plug your ears. We can write back and forth on this site or try talking on the phone for a bit to see if we would be a good fit. Most people are easy to tell at a glance from your profile photo. We welcome friends of Bill, trees, earth, animals and in Wendy's case - fashion and fun. We want to have your stay with us be comfortable, casual and carefree.
