About this listing

Our heritage home is 53 year old, renovated to all modern comforts in 2013. Its located in a community of loveable neihbours who believe in sharing and caring.
Its well connected to airport and the city by 3 metro stations ,just 10 minutes walk away.

The space

My husband and I live in a 3 bedroom flat, reconstructed recently on our 50 year old parental house. This piece of land was purchased in 1962 for INR.7000. The plot of land is rebuild to a 4 floor building, with one flat on each floor. We occupy 2nd floor of the building. Each flat is of more than 1500 square feet of area with 3 bedrooms and a big living room provided with all amenities..
We are located in old North Delhi area, and you can feel the warmth of neighborhood community. This area is outside the Mughal Delhi and therefore less crowded. Daily needs are met by a local market of 20 shops, just 1 minutes walk away. Nearest metro stations is GTB Nagar well connected to New Delhi Railway station and airport, on the yellow line of Metro. For the history buffs, we are a mile away from the historic North Delhi Ridge-the site of the First War of Independence of 1857-among the best kept open secrets among Delhiites. Now a favorite among the early risers, the Ridge is home to the Flagstaff Tower, Mutiny Memorial and a whole lot of primates.
from international airport IGI hire a taxi for KINGS WAY CAMP/GTB NAGAR METRO STATIONand ask the driver to talk to me on my mobile no. for exact location.otherwise its difficult to search street.

I stayed for four nights with Manjula and her husband. They organized an airport pickup and the driver met and drove me to the apartment in a residential area of Old Delhi. I was made very welcome, even invited to the wedding celebration of a cousin's daughter, which was an experience. They helped me book onward train transfers to Agra and Jaipur, paying for the reservations for me, as IR helpfully don't accept international credit cards. Manjula invited me to dinner on my last night to celebrate her husband's birthday. The meal was lovely. Both are very helpful offering advice on things to do and see in Delhi. The apartment is 10 minute cycle rickshaw from the local metro and then 15 mins into Old Delhi for the Fort and other sights. The apartment is clean and modern and the bedroom very comfortable, with en suite walk in shower. The maid cleaned the room each day. I enjoyed my stay with Manjula and would definitely stay again if I were to return to Delhi for a friendly and comfortable homestay.

When we first arrived in Delhi we had to ask ourselves the question of what had we let ourselves in for but after some quick advice and guidance from Manjula we were off on a rickshaw to the local metro station for the first part of our Indian experience, and with her guidance our stay got better and better. We couldn't have asked for anything more from our stay in India, we saw sides of India that we would have missed if hadn't been for the guidance of Manjula and her husband. But all of this is without mentioning the feeling of coming back to the apartment after a long day in Delhi, the feeling of coming back home to family. My biggest advice for anyone who has any questions about their stay in India with Manjula would be to ask her, nothing is too much trouble, she even help to arrange a cake for my birthday.

Of all our trips with Airbnb this has surpassed all our expectations and experiences. From the moment of arrival it felt as if we were visiting family, providing guidance and local knowledge of importance to our stay. The location is secluded but still close to Delhis center by metro, the local streets and markets also provide a very real Indian experience - perfect for shopping local products and some dining. Their home is very clean and feels like home, with great meals on offer sampling local cuisine. If you need a safe "western" haven at the end of a long day in India, this is a great place to retire for the evening. Manjula and her husband were very helpful in arranging transport, both in the form of booking train ticketd in advance and offering local transportation. We also received highly valuable advice on bargaining and general tips for our stay in the city. Our choice of homestay was highly important in making our eight-night visit to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur a memorable holiday, and we highly recommend Manjulas place to other travellers.

Manjula is the perfect hostess. She takes a real delight in making her guests feel at home, and has plenty of good suggestions for making the most of however much time you have to spend in Delhi. The house is in a nice residential district. Like anywhere in Delhi, it is densely packed and there is constant noise from the street below - street vendors calling out their wares during the day and children playing games in the evening. We found all of this charming. The Metro station is 15-20 minutes walk away, or 30 rupees in a rickshaw, which is always waiting right outside. We got a bit lost in the maze of streets walking back first time in the dark, but friendly store keepers pointed us in the right direction, and it was easy once we got used to it. Throughly recommended!

Manjula was one of the best travel hosts I've ever had. She welcomed us into her home with open arms (and a spread of hot homemade food for dinner after a late flight) and didn't stop making us feel at home for one minute. We had one full day in Delhi and Manjula helped us make the most of it. Her husband gave us a lift to a market and Manjula took us shopping for an upcoming wedding, making sure we found the best quality and helped us get a good price on everything. She then gave us detailed directions so we could venture on our own. Her place is in an easy location to get to Old Delhi from so we had no problem exploring from there. Manjula's kindness went on and on - from her delicious cooking, to her help with money exchange (during an extremely difficult political moment in India that left the country with limited currency), to her wise words about life and happiness. Her place is stunning, clean and comfortable. You can't go wrong staying here! 5 stars all the way, we highly recommend her pad :)

This is my second stay with Manjula and her husband. If I am ever back in India, I will only stay with them! She is such a good friend now - and that's because of Air BnB! Her place is immaculate and quiet, and they always make me feel like I am home. She will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable! And don't even get me started on her cooking - I don't usually like Indian food, but hers is so light and healthy and flavourful, it's amazing. If you are in Delhi, please look up my dear friend, Manjula, and you, too, will have a friend for life!
