The Space

Spend the night or the week in our cozy, comfortable 1922-built home with craftsman-inspired architecture, tucked in Lansing's historic Moores Park neighborhood. We are a short freeway drive from the campus of Michigan State University, and minutes from downtown Lansing.

The house features two bedrooms, a full kitchen (ready for your home cooked meals), a dining room with seating for up to six, a spacious living room with lots of natural light, and an office, should you need to get some work done. Our house is ideal for weekend trips to visit MSU, or for those visiting Lansing for business or pleasure. We're also open for business for your MSU Football weekends!

NOTE: The listing is for a shared home with private bedroom room, EXCEPT for MSU Home Football Weekends and certain holidays. In other words, typically it is for a private bedroom with a full-sized bed, and you share the rest of the house with one female resident. For MSU HOME Football weekends, the ENTIRE HOME will be available for rental with no other guests (see calendar for details). Prices will update accordingly based on the dates you choose. We can also entertain special requests to rent the entire home; just send us a message with your request and we can work with you!

ENTIRE HOUSE RENTALS: The two bedrooms are both upstairs and sleep up to 4 people (max of two per bedroom). Both bedrooms have hardwood floors and full beds. The house also features closet space and wireless internet. Access to the laundry room (with washer and dryer) is available. A couch in the living room could sleep another person, or use our air mattress (available upon request).

PRIVATE BEDROOM RENTALS: The private guest bedroom is upstairs, next to the shared bathroom. It features a premium full-sized futon with fresh linens, a dresser, lamp, and full closet, and two windows. The room has great light and is on the back side of the house, so it is quiet. The house has wireless internet. The rest of the house is available for your use. The maximum number of adult guests for the private bedroom is two.

The home is smoke-free. It has a clean, updated bathroom, and an updated kitchen with a gas range, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. There are pots and pans, in case you want to make a full meal. The home features its original wood trim, hardwood floors, and historic details, and sits on a tree-lined street. The house has a deck and garden as well, if you care to enjoy them. The neighborhood is safe and quiet.

This house is two blocks away from the Grand River and Moores Park, one of Lansing's finest parks. If you're a runner or want a nice walk, the Lansing River Trail, a 10+ mile trail system, is also two blocks away.

Stay here and you are just a ten-minute drive (90% expressway) from the campus of Michigan State University and minutes from downtown Lansing and Michigan's Capitol building. You are also just a 10-minute drive from Eastwood Towne Center mall. There is a driveway that holds up to three cars, as well as on-street parking, and the house is just a block-and-a-half from a bus stop, should you need options for getting around. A bicycle can be made available for your use while staying here (upon advance request only).

    Response from Denae:

Due to a terrible ice storm that resulted in a massive power outage, this
reservation had to be canceled. Communication with the guest was consistent
and timely and they were able to make other arrangements. It is my hope
that they can stay in the future!

    April 2013
  • Fabulous experience! Quiet, beautiful home that was so inviting and comfortable. Easy to find from the airport and immaculately kept. Denae was a warm and welcoming hostess. I will recommend her place to any and all family and friends who find themselves visiting the Lansing/East Lansing area. And I hope to return myself sometime! Extra bonus was watching a local tree expert cut down a huge tree from across the street the morning I left! Great neighborhood!

    March 2013
  • We had a great stay with Denae; I appreciated her very quick communication and she was helpful when we had some flight delays and arrived in the middle of the night.

The house was a treat; I love old houses and this one has been lovingly maintained and restored. Not fancy but very clean, and with beautiful wood everywhere.

A rather crazy schedule for the weekend for my daughter and I meant that we didn't get to interact much, but Denae gave us a great restaurant recommendation, and I intend to tap her expertise for more suggestions next trip.

I am in my early 30's and work on sustainable food issues. I've lived in some of the world's great cities, including Rome, Chicago, and Dallas. I strive to be a great, laid-back hosts for our listing in Lansing, and occasionally use the site as guests when traveling. I've really enjoyed using AirBnB -- it's a wonderful way to meet interesting people from all over the world, and hear the stories they have to tell.
