About this listing
Basement unit in a single family home converted to a duplex. Fully furnished 2-bedroom, 1-bath, with living room, kitchen, shared laundry room. The unit has a lawn with a 8000 square foot lot and separate entrance. Located in the Spenard neighborhood of Midtown Anchorage. Convenient to midtown offices, 2.5 miles from airport, 3.4 miles to downtown Anchorage, 3.7 miles to Alaska Railroad Depot
This is a well estabilished older area of Anchorage. It is also a mismash of people and how we live in Anchorage. Our neighbors are the realist people you could ever meet. They also have a well of knowledge about Alaska. They work hard, live here 24/7. It is a true community.
There are many local restaurants nearby. All very good. And everything under our all night sun you can think of.We have information for you when you arrive. We are always a phone call away, and the neighbors are always more than helpful.
There is a bus stop 3 blocks away if you don't want to navigate the streets of Anchorage. We love taking the bus downtown. No hassle parking a car, and then you can enjoy a few brewskies at one of our fine local brewpubs.
If you ever thought of living here, this is about as real as it gets
Enjoy, yet be respectful. Not only of the house, but our neighbors. They work hard & play hard. A colorful, honest, & friendly neighborhood. They love meeting new people and strive to be helpful when asked. Otherwise they will just let you be and try not to crowd your space. They watch over the property like it was one of their kids. I mean this in a good sense. You & your belongs are secure.
So relax and enjoy your stay!
The apartment is lovely and comfortable and well appointed. I loved the juices, condiments already in the fridge, toiletries, the blackout curtains in the room my son used, access to the laundry machines...the place and the hosts are perfect!
The few drawbacks though were... You will definitely want a car or a bike. Our experiment with People Mover was an abysmal failure-- the bus stops are right there but the bus service is pretty sparse, and we did a lot of walking. It's a great way to see the city, but in truth, that part of Spenard is not a great one. So, to maximize your time in the amazing city, rent a car. Costco has good deals for members.
While the neighborhood on Spenard leaves something to be desired (my husband was menaced by a vagrant while walking up to get some milk from the Holiday mart, nothing he couldn't handle though) you certainly won't find a cleaner, more centrally located (for the pretty convenient for downtown, airport & floatplane base) or well-appointed place in Anchorage for the price.
Thank you Wendy! I felt bad the weather wasn't more cooperative for walking either. I will not in the profile the "limited" bus service. During the week days it's great, but they do have infrequent service on weekends and holidays.
And bikes are something we hope to ad to one of our amenities.
I hope you had a great trip so Homer, and hope you would entertain the idea of our place again- car or not, thanks for your honest input.
Katie & Tim
Very clean and cozy place! The pictures don't really do it justice. We really enjoyed our stay, the apartment is very conveniently located and easy to get to. Tim and Katie were very nice and quickly responsive right when the reservation was made and afterwards with any questions. Only complaint is that the WiFi didn't work the first night. I was going to give Katie a call the next day since we got in really late, but by the time I was getting around to it, it was back in working order and we didn't have a problem with it after that! There was also a pretty good amount of noise from people walking around upstairs, as to be expected from a lower level unit, so if that bothers you, just go for Lincoln House I instead! Also looks like a great space. I would definitely rent Lincoln House II again, stay a little longer, and hopefully have a chance to meet Tim and Katie.
We had a wonderful time at Tim and Katie's apartment. The property was exactly as described, with a well kitted out kitchen and good WiFi. The location worked well for us as we needed space to park an RV. Food and beverage options were available a short walk away. Our hosts were super friendly and helpful, with tips ranging from best beer to local mechanics! Definitely recommended
The location is really good and the house has what we needed. It's a cozy place and we enjoyed our stay
We had a great stay at Tim and Katie's apartment in Anchorage. The apartment was spacious and had a well resourced kitchen (and was newly carpeted!).
We caught the bus to the downtown and it was just a short walk to the stop with regular services. We also walked over to Antonios Greek Bakery and Cafe (10 mins) which was great home-style Greek food.
This was a comfortable and nice apartment, the house was in a good location for getting to the campus and to downtown. We mainly used the public transport system and had no problems. Very clean and a quiet neighborhood. I recommend this listing to others.
Lincoln House 2 exceeded our expectations in convenience, comfort, and peacefulness! Tim and Katie have done an excellent job with this home. We travel to Anchorage frequently and expect this was the first of many trips spent at the Lincoln House.
