The owner of the apartment seemed very nice and we chose this apartment because of the location and the appearance from the pictures on the website. It was fairly expensive, which we thought would indicate that it was well maintained. Unfortunately, it was tremendously overpriced! Much to our dismay, it was extremely messy and the one time we closed the windows (a cold night), began to smell badly. The closet was in total disarray, filled with open boxes, spilling out contents; every surface in the bathroom was covered so there was no place to put our toiletries, the overhead light in the bedroom did not work and the side lamps were so dim it was impossible to use them to read by. The hall fixture was missing one bulb with another one burned out. The surface in the kitchen was also covered with the owner's possessions; there really was no place to prepare food. The shower was good and the bed was comfortable, but the whole atmosphere was so dismal that we used the apartment only to sleep and shower in the morning. We would definitely recommend against renting this apartment.
I stayed in the apartment for 3 nights. Everything was as advertised. Location was good. I recommend going to the Ritz Diner, good food, very inexpensive.
Alysse was extraordinarily accommodating, and her apartment is lovely and well located, especially for someone visiting NY for the first time. Highly recommend it.
