The room is the top floor of wonderful 115-year old carriage house in Mid-Cambridge, half way between Harvard University and MIT. We are equidistant from three major squares in Cambridge – Harvard, Central and Inman Squares. Ten minutes walk to the Red Line, Boston’s subway system connecting to Boston; local bus service is at either end of our street.
We offer a gracious, 500 square foot, third floor bedroom loft suite with a full bathroom. It is open to the floors below via a stair. We provide sheets and towels for our guests’ use. We have a pleasant ground floor living/dining/kitchen area and exterior patio that can be lightly used by our guests. We have internet access. We also have a beautiful, friendly cat, Watson; he is loveable and may visit your room. We do not allow smoking in the house.
The hosts were warm and welcoming and made sure that I had everything I needed and understood how the lights and locks worked. Their place is charming and chock-full of exotic souvenirs, and the bedroom is comfortable, quiet, and has great rooftop views of the neighborhood. They have thoughtfully supplied lots of maps and guides to the city. The location is convenient walking distance to both Harvard and Inman squares. A great stay!
Staying with Chuck and Pat was a wonderful Airbnb experience. They communicated well prior to my arrival regarding directions and arrival time and were warm and welcoming. The loft room is comfortable and spacious with a very nice bathroom. The neighbourhood is a lovely residential area in walking distance to Harvard Square .
Charles and Pat were great hosts. They were very helpful and accommodating, providing maps, information about public transportation, and suggestions for food nearby (and the recommendation of Darwin's for breakfast was perfect!) The location is nice too. You can get a sense of the residential neighborhood in mid-Cambridge, while still being only a short walk from Harvard Yard. All in all, a cozy home-base for adventures around Boston!
A superb place to stay in a quiet neighborhood! I can only echo the superlatives from the other reviewers. I enjoyed the third floor loft vibe (apart but not isolated) and the super clean private bathroom. Note that the two ceiling windows in the photo have motorized shades; press the button and lower them at night if you don't want to wake with the sunrise.
I should add that I stayed in mid-January when it was very cold; the temperature was cozy and naturally warm, not indifferently humid and suffocating like some hotels. I also appreciated the local map as well as the guidebooks to peruse on the dresser!
We enjoyed a wonderful stay with Chuck and his lovely wife. Everything was just as described, very clean and a perfect get away for us. Will definitely want to stay here again.
We had a wonderful stay at Chuck and Pat's. The room was spacious with heaps of room.
Chuck was very informative and both were lovely, friendly hosts.
The location of the carriage house is close to all three squares. The Harvard Square, Kendall and Central Square, all within walking distances.
The rapid transit takes us to Boston within 15 min.
Lovely location. Lovely hosts.
Our stay at Pat and Chuck was incredible. Both are so welcoming and generous and we had a wonderful time at their lovely house in Cambridge. They provided a great living space with a a private bathroom and a lot of helpful information for our first visit to Boston. Their house is perfectly located in a very neat neighborhood with great coffee places and good access to public transportation.
I will come back and stay with them again whenever I get back to Boston! It was a wonderful way to explore Boston and feel like home at the same time! 5 stars for the Redmons!
Long time residents of Cambridge, who know the city extremely well and would be pleased to help you get the most from your visit to the Boston area. We are an architect and a retired school teacher, with four grown children still the in area. We have enjoyed meeting and leanring our guests who have come from all over the world.
