Beautiful little house only 60 meters from the desolated beach.
Pura vida comes to life here, in the small community of Punta Banco where people work together to keep their village pure and natural.
-wooden handmade furniture
-big kitchen with all the proper utensils
-long stay is very welcome
-price can be discussed
-sea turtle reservation
-small shops and local restaurants around the corner
-safe environment (people, I mean, the snakes and spiders I can't account for)
-only 10 minutes from the second longest left hander in the world: Pavones.
-2 bedrooms, one with big bed, and one with bunkbed
We can arrange for a car to come pick you up from Golfito airport. It's an hour flight from San Jose, and from there only 2 hours by car.
Internet at the library, 24 hrs. (outside, so with great view)
Washing machine can be used at the neighbours.
No airco: the ocean breeze flows through the house. Ventilation fans in bedrooms.
Swimming pool not needed: the Rico Claro is nearby, where the kids go swiming, also tidepools and...the Pacific Ocean!
If you are deciding between Ellis's place, or somewhere else, choose Ellis!!!! Not only will the planning of the trip be a breeze but the stay itself will be unforgettable - a true Costa Rican experience. In booking the trip, Ellis was beyond helpful the entire time - always making sure our needs were met - even arranging transportation for us. She hooks you up with some of the locals there who prepare the house for her. The locals are all a family and they instantly welcome you into the family as well - treating you as neighbors should! They often offer rides, drop by and bring you food (real coconut water/plantains, etc), or leave you to your private vacation. The house is amazing - the beach is literally your front yard, and the jungle/mountains your back yard. If you're from a city like me (NYC) it will especially take your breath away. It's a great retreat to get back in touch with yourself - simple living without distractions. My boyfriend and I had the time of our life there and we will never forget it. :)
I met Ellis through a mutual friend and travelling companion whilst travelling in Costa Rica a couple of years ago. Together with my travel buddy, I had the honour of being the first guest to stay at her house in Punta Banco and could not have been happier with the accommodations, nor with my time there. Ellis was a generous and accommodating host and made us feel very welcome. She is obviously well liked within the community there and many of the people in the village have welcomed her into the fold. Beyond the more obviously generic things I could say (she is honest and trustworthy and generous of spirit), she is a caring mother and her nurturing soul not only makes her a great host, but she has become a good friend in the time since my first visit to Punta Banco.
In addition to all of her personal attributes, I would also like to take a moment to sing the praises of the house in Punta Banco and the surroundings as a whole. Unlike many parts of Costa Rica which have become quite built up and touristy, Punta Banco, is a simple and uncomplicated place that defines the essence of "Pura Vida". Beautiful, unspoilt and uncrowded beaches, abundant wildlife and friendly neighbours make this one of my favourite places to visit. If you are looking for somewhere where you can lie in a hammock and hear the Howler monkeys in the surrounding rainforest, watch a toucan feed from the mangoes that have fallen in the garden, or hike alone pristine beaches and see natural waterfalls, I can heartily recommend both the area and the accommodations provided by Ellis at "La Casa de Los 3 Hermanitos".
