We had the best time ever in Marianna's boat house, it is her home and she made it feel like ours. She was there to meet us and had left us little treats to make us feel at home. She also advised us on how to get around Copenhagen and even took a call from us when we got lost on our first evening. The boat is really comfortable , so much so that we stayed in each evening. The interior is beautifully decorated and has lots of character and charm, as does the host Marianna. It is very close to the centre and we would advise anyone to use the bus boat which is only 15 minutes to the centre from the stop, a five minute walk from the boathouse. Barbara and I would highly recommend a stay in this lovely property and hope you enjoy Copenhagen as much as we did. Thanks Marianna.
The way to Mariannas little "castle on water" by bus was as easy as a walk in the park.
Of course you can take a cab but from the airport it takes only 22 minutes by Train/Bus. The bus station is near to the boat and easy to reach.
We had a really nice welcome and Marianna shows us everything around the pier we need to know. She bought us some basic food and delicious wine.
The boat itself is well equipped so you can cook everything you want and have a good breakfast before the daily trip starts. The supermarket, accessible by feed in 10 minutes, shows once again the tasty danish food. Furthermore we loved the stove on boat.
After our 4 days visit, Copenhagen is one of our favorite places at Europe. The danish food is par excellence, the city offers many beautiful places and charming stores for nice shopping. From the busdriver, seller, inhabitant and of course Marianna we were totally attired to meet only pleasant citizens.
Don't be fooled by the slightly ramshackle approach through a messy boatyard if you come by taxi. Once you're on the wobbly bridge from land to boat, it is cosy and warm and beautifully equipped inside. Late January/early February may not seem like the best choice to hit Denmark but we were there partly for the Nordic Noir tours as fans of Borgen, The Bridge etc. The weather actually helped with the drama atmosphere, and was never so cold or wet that we couldn't venture out. Marianne herself was very helpful and welcoming, and left some food in the fridge for us, as well as taking us on a walkabout to show us how to get into town. The experience of being on the Gea for four nights was genuinely quirky and fun, as well as being quiet and comfortable. The cormorants, ducks and the odd seagull were great companions. The bus is two minutes away - No.30 - and even better, after a ten minute walk, the Harbour waterbus that runs right into the centre of town. There's a good supermarket called Irma near where the Harbour boat leaves. Check out the hundreds of young professionals flats and the streets named after Jazz musicians. We couldn't really think of a more unusual yet relaxing place to be. Highly recommended!
We loved our stay on Gea, the boat had everything we needed and more and was lovely and bright and cosy. It was great waking up on the water every day and although it is a ten minute trip by public transport into the centre, the harbour bus which departs from just across the water was a great way to see some of the city. There is a supermarket and cafe very close by too. Marianne was a fantastic host, very flexible with check in times and came to meet us on arrival and departure. She also left us some yummy supplies including chocolate and beer which was very kind! Would recommend to any one.
We had a wonderful stay at Marianne's boathouse. It is a beautiful home in a lovely and tranquil area. Marianne was very helpful and made our stay enjoyable and welcoming. She had left food and goodies for us when we arrived late in the evening the first day. We hope to come again!
We had a fantastic time staying on this lovely houseboat. It was a beautiful, comfortable place to stay and very easy to get into the centre of Copenhagen (10 mins on a bus, bus stop just by the boat).
Marianne was lovely, she came to say hi and show us round the boat - was very flexible about times, and had left us some tea/coffee etc to get us going.
I would heartily recommend this to anyone who wants to visit the lovely city of Copenhagen but wants to stay "somewhere special"
