Interaction with Guests
We are available to guests as much as they need/want us to be. We are very flexible.
The neighbourhood is quiet, safe and friendly with much to offer within walking distance.
Walk 2 minutes to the end of our street and you will be at the corner store. Continue down Gorge Road for another few minutes and you are at Gorge Park (see photos). This is an off-lease park. The walking path continues along the Gorge waterway for 3 km.
Six blocks from our house is a grocery store, Starbucks, liquor store, pharmacy and restaurants.
There is free parking on our street.
If you are a walker, the walk to downtown across the beautiful Selkirk waterway takes about 40 minutes.
The bus stop is one block away with the # 11 bus taking you downtown in 10 minutes.
Other Things to Note
We are a cycling household and there is safe and easy parking for your bikes right outside your doorway.
Cycle downtown from our house in 10 minutes.
Ride in from the ferry along the Lochside Regional Trail and easily access our house.
We are a short 5 minute ride to the Galloping Goose Trail which connects to the Lochside trail. Together they cover more than 80 km of pathways, along city back-streets, farmland, forest and ocean vistas, all within a day's travel of Victoria.
If you are coming from far away we can loan you our extra bikes (note that we are short therefore the bikes are small).
No smoking anywhere on the property
Laundry facilities available on request
While you are here we would appreciate it if you recycled everything. We will show you how.
When parking in front of the house please pull forward far enough for another car to fit behind.
The exercise bike is no longer in the suite.
We look forward to your visit!
Wendy and Arlene were great hosts. The bsmt suite was clean and comfortable and suited us perfectly. The location is ideal.....10-15 minute walk to two different grocery stores, just minutes away from the Galloping Goose and a very nice 40 minute walk to downtown on the Goose. If you don't like walking the #11 bus stops 5 minutes from the house.
Arlene met us when we arrived and greeted us warmly. She even brought us some of Wendy's homemade brownies! The suite is spotless, warm, nicely furnished and decorated, and very comfortable. As others have mentioned, the kitchen is well equipped with every imaginable utensil. We were visiting family in various parts of Victoria, so didn't explore much of the neighbourhood with the exception of the large park. It is conveniently located to go to many parts of Greater Victoria. There is a shopping plaza not far away with a supermarket, liquor store, Subway, etc. I would highly recommend Arlene and Wendy's place to anybody. Its spaciousness was very suitable for our family of four.
What a great place!
Arlene and Wendy were fantastic as well.
We had a great time and really enjoyed the suite.
It is big, spacious and clean.
Arlene and Wendy welcome you in and allow you a lot off privacy as well. It felt like a home and we were very comfortable for our entire stay.
The location is good if you have a car. I am from Victoria, and to be honest, you need a car in Victoria anyhow, so this is fine.
You have everything you need n the suite on arrival.
Just bring your suitcase and you are set to go!
Thank you for a great stay!
What a delightful, cozy "home-away-from-home" was this Airbnb downstairs apartment. The communication I had with Arlene and Wendy was just right, before and during our stay here. There were many thoughtful touches designed to make the guest comfortable--quality linens, well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, good lighting. The apartment is spacious for three people with a good design for privacy between sleeping and living areas. And the fold-out futon-couch is extremely comfortable for sleeping! We enjoyed being in a residential neighborhood and walked to the neighborhood pub the first night for excellent food and an entertaining evening of comraderie and games. We also walked downtown which is definitely doable but probably not for anyone with small children. Everything is as represented in the description on Airbnb and we would definitely stay again. Thank you, Arlene and Wendy, for your warm and friendly hospitality.
Awesome stay! Arlene was there when we arrived and gave us the grand tour. Location, perfect for our purpose - central and accessible to both downtown and parks. Nothing but pleasant and comfortable. Welcoming to our whole family (whole = a sometimes loud newborn + a very busy 3 year old!). Thank YOU!
Appartement tres bien equipe, ideal pour un couple, au calme. Le quartier gordewaterway gagne a etre parcouru meme s il est situe a 15 mn du centre ville en bus . Accueil sympathique.
We had such a lovely stay here; the place was clean, cosy and comfortable and had all the necessary amenities we could need.
Arlene and Wendy were extremely friendly and provided us with all sorts of great local information. They also lent us bikes to use whilst we stayed there which was great! Downtown is a short cycle or bus journey away.
