We have a spacious and recently finished basement apartment in our 1907 farmhouse. The bedroom is very large with a comfortable queen size mattress and bed, dresser, and study nook with a desk and chair. The kitchen opens into the living room and has all new appliances and cookware. There is one large walk-in closet. Guests have their own separate entrance to the apartment.
Our neighborhood is on a quiet street in the King section of NE Portland. We are a few blocks away from loads of award winning restaurants, shops, galleries and bars on Fremont, Williams, Mississippi Ave, and Alberta Street, and from Whole Foods, Alberta Street Co-op, and New Seasons Market. We are also within walking distance to several bus lines and are a 10 to 15 minute bike ride or 5-10 minute drive to downtown PDX.
Our house is on the older side so sounds do carry. Doors and floors are creaky and the pitter patter of footsteps can occasionally be heard from upstairs. The apartment is in the basement so it tends to be much more comfortable in the summer than it is upstairs. That said, we don't have air conditioning in the unit. In the winter months, and for cooler days in general, there is a heater in both the living room a bedroom that guests can control to their comfort level.
A bit about us. We are two working artists/creatives with a toddler who love to travel, cook, play outdoors and get our hands dirty in our large organic garden. We have two cats who are often seen outside in our little oasis garden.
What we offer to our guests:
A bounty of vegetables from our garden
Free Wifi and Flatscreen with Apple TV
Washing machine and dryer
Fun books and artwork to ogle and read during your stay
Lots of great advice on what to see, where to go, and what to eat in the Portland and surrounding areas.
Options for verified and well-trusted babysitting services
We have traveled all over the world and stayed in several houses and apartments along the way, so we've tried our best to make sure that all of the creature comforts are in place.
We love exchanging stories and making new connections with fellow travelers.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
Unless for some reason we are traveling, we meet all of our guests in person to get them settled into the apartment and answer any questions that they have about restaurants and other activities in the area.
We usually send a couple of text messages throughout the duration of guests' stays to make sure they are comfortable and to check on whether they need anything at all. For the most part we like to give our guests the space they need. If guests stay a bit longer, we usually invite them over for dinner or a glass of wine. We love getting to know travelers and have met some amazing people through Air B and B by sharing a meal.

This space is great. We showed up late and exhausted from our flight from NY found a comfortable (and large) space full of portland specific reads (these really came in handy during our trip) and a fridge full of fresh fruit and homemade muffins. There is plenty to do in NE (Ristretto Roasters and Tasty and Sons were our favorites. The long wait for brunch is completely worth it) and it was easy to catch a bus downtown.
Felicity greeted me with such good care (and a delicious local chocolate bar) that I really recommend to go to her place. She has a great knowledge of local must-dos and must-sees in the area, you should definitely stick to her local tips.
The place itself is super neat and decorated with very good taste. The only little thing is that you can hear a bit what's happening upstairs as it's a basement apt. But overall, it is super calm and quiet.
We had a great stay in this artistic apartment! Felicity and Michael have been amazing hosts, very helpful - especially that we arrived in the middle of the snow storm, fun times :-)
We fell in love with the NE area of Portland that Felicity and Michael live in - great restaurants and bars are walking distance, even with 8 inches of snow!
We would love to come back to Portland in the summer time and will definitely try and stay here again!
This was my first experience with AirBnB and it was amazing! The immaculate space and amazing location was only outdone by the kindness of the hosts. We were greeted by Michael and Beckett when we arrived. They showed us around the apartment and gave us a good direction for setting out for dinner for the night. Felicity came down to check on us after to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Restaurants, bars, shopping, are all within walking distance, Michael and Felicity were extremely responsive anytime we needed anything. I would highly recommend this trendy location to anyone looking to experience Portland. Michael, Felicity and Beckett even had us over for dinner one night and made an amazing vegan Moussaka. I truly couldn't have asked for a better experience. We used this location as a launch pad to relocate to Portland and the whole experience could not have been better. I hope for our families friendship to continue.
Beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly located apartment that was filled with great books and coffee. Super helpful with recommendations and restaurant advice. This was an ideal experience, and I wish we could have stayed longer!
Charmer is right! This place was perfectly located, clean, warm and comfortable - as promised. While we didn't need to call on them for anything, Felicity and Michael made themselves very available and greeted us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed.
We spent five days exploring some of Portland's best restaurants (some of them within walking distance) and things to do but loved coming home to this bright, warm space at the end of the day.
The unit has so many interesting books (including several Portland guidebooks/magazines), a well-equipped kitchen and even space in the bedroom for a yoga mat or two (if you're into that kind of thing).
We'd go back in a heartbeat.
We stayed here for 10 days, and it was great! Michael (who we met in person and chatted with a couple times) and Felicity (who we did not have the occasion to meet in person) were very quick to respond, and very friendly and helpful; we would have enjoyed chatting with them more, actually, as they are quite interesting people. The apartment was awesome... well-furnished and comfortable, all the amenities needed to live comfortably (even provided some excellent locally-roasted coffee and a treat on our last day), and the location is hard to top. We especially loved all of the art, especially the paintings that were actually done by Michael and/or Felicity (there was a good half dozen we'd loved to have taken home with us, but didn't since we figured that would likely kill our AirBnB cred!). This will be our go-to lodging solution for future visits (at least as long as it's available, anyway). Thanks again for the great stay!
Clean & cozy space. The hosts paid a lot of attention to detail i.e. staring great restaurants in a restaurant guide. Felicity made sure we had some half & half for coffee & brought us some extremely delicious short bread. They were quick to respond & the space is amazing! Perfect for a weekend in Portland. Can walk to restaurants & a short drive from downtown.
We can't say enough good things about this very special place! It is a beautifully decorated and immaculately clean space with plenty of space for my husband, son and me. The kitchen is well appointed and has a gas stove :) The location is very central to tons of great restaurants and shopping...in general we found Portland very easy to get around. The hosts are generous and kind and we truly had a special stay! We can't wait to return! Thank you, Michael and Felicity, for creating such a magical get-away!
This place is great! The apartment was private and exceptionally clean and tidy . I have severe dust allergies and did not sneeze once! The decor was lovely and we had everything we needed. My very pregnant friend was more than comfortable in the queen bed, while my one year old and I slept well on the air bed with down topper. There was even a pack n play set up for us if we needed it. The chocolate bar, fresh apple cider in the fridge, and gorgeous lilies were icing on the cake. Felicity was very easy to communicate with and I would happily stay here again!
