A cozy family-run spacious guest house amidst a quiet tree-lined compound within the city. Comfortably fits up to 6 persons.
Whether you're a party of six or traveling solo, you get the whole house for yourself. It's really spacious with a queen sized bed below and two extra mattresses in the attic. Amenities include hot and cold shower, refrigerator, an LCD TV with DVD player and a sound system. Free wifi is available. We also have a small collection of books for your reading pleasure.
The guest house is within the city and near the highway so transportation is not a problem. Major restaurants and malls are a single ride away.
Interaction with Guests
I only get to interact with the guests in the early hours of the morning and between 7-10pm since I go to work.
What I love about our neighborhood is it's near everything.
Public transit is not a problem. Tricycles and multicabs are available anytime. We can also contact van rentals if you're interested.
Other Things to Note
No kitchen facilities available. Yet!
The guest house was not as advertised. The bathroom was very dirty (mold in the shower & 7 spiders and their webs above the shower). All trinkets like fake plants and religious sculptures were covered in dust. Musty smell. There was mold growing in the refrigerator. Since heat rises, the loft upstairs was unbearably hot and the air conditioning unit downstairs couldn't reach it. Strangely, there were fans upstairs but no outlets to plug them into. Minimal security; there's a mini-lock on the exterior of the sliding glass door but at night when you're sleeping you can't lock the door from the inside. Overall the guesthouse is good for backpackers on a budget with low expectations. It has a lot of potential but it's not cared for properly.
Host was very welcoming and easy to reach out to. She made our tour to the underground river fuss free. The house was very nice and big! We will definitely recommend to friends and family.
We loved this little cottage! It was a great space for my family to relax and unwind. Donna was gracious and greeted us warmly on arrival. Really glad we stayed here!
The Guesthouse looked exactly as it did in the listing. What the pictures don't capture is the warmth of the welcome we received and the kindness and generosity of our host, Donna. This place is perfect for a family or a group of friends who love the idea of being all together in one space. Breakfast was served daily, no matter what time we needed to leave for our daily tours/activities. The central location of this place is a definite plus. You can walk or take a short tricycle ride to restaurants, Robinson's Galleria, some cool souvenir shops and even to the airport! I would most definitely book this place again and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting Puerto Princesa! Thanks so much, Donna for arranging our underground River tour and for your hospitality! Hope to see you again in the near future!:-)
I and my friends had a really comfortable stay at Dapuan. For three people, the place was really spacious and they've got all the basic amenities covered. They even have towels so you can travel light. We just couldn't find a water heater for coffee inside the house, but just in case, you can probably ask the hosts if they have provisions for it. We got to interact only with Donna during our stay though and she has been really helpful and accommodating. She checked on us from time to time prior and during our stay and she's answered all our questions re: going around the city upon our arrival. As for the place, Dapuan is 10-15 minutes away from the airport (via tricycle) and is located along a small sidestreet behind a gas station. But it's just a few minutes walk from the highway so accessing public transport shouldn't be a problem. There are also stores along the highway where you can purchase food, drinks, and/or medicine in case of emergency.
It's a charming little house, well-decorated so I instantly felt comfortable. The compound is very nice with large trees that give plenty of shade, so it is nice to spend time on the porch. It is somewhat shielded from the highway, but not strictly quiet: You will always hear tricycles booming past in the background (I got used to it though). The hosts have several dogs who are playful and usually very well behaved, but there are many more dogs in the area, which often leads to loud barking at day and night. The WiFi can be a bit patchy in the house, but on the porch it's usually fine.
That said, Donna and Arlette have been nothing but welcoming and helpful, so I can thank them for an overall relaxing month in Puerto Princesa!
The reservation was canceled 40 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
