Marina was an AMAZING host. Communication was prompt; she forwarded instructions, which contain details on everything from using appliances to locations of local markets. Marina made us feel right at home. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay with everything we needed. The apartment is clean and aesthetically very pleasing. It has all the modern annementies. The building is modern and safe (24 hour doorman). Building staff is friendly and helpful. The apartment is very close to beaches. I loved the breeze on the balcony at night...I would definitely rent this apartment from Marina again.
The host Marina was most welcoming and made sure that we settled in to the apartment as soon as we touched down. We was the greeted by Margarita who showed us around the apartment and told us where to go in the area etc.
The apartment was spotless and was exactly what we had paid for. I was very impressed with how well everything went especially as this was my first time using and airbnb booking.
I would defo use this apartment again in the future.
Ninguna queja
I really enjoyed staying at Marina's home in Santo Domingo. She was very helpful with providing information about the area and she made sure that I was comfortable. I especially liked Margarita and Carmen. They made the experience so much more than I could have every expected and Ramon provided me and my husband with transportation to and from the airport. Everything is very clean and nicely kept at the apartment and everyone is very friendly and are willing to offer you assistance with just about anything that you can think of. We had an awesome time and I would stay here again. This place deserves 5 stars for sure.
I stood at Marina's condo for a week and it was great yes maybe a little
Upgrade should be made but no biggie. First let me start by saying that her host "Margarita" it's so nice and helpful as soon as I got there she greeted me gave me the whole tour of the condo and building. I had mentioned to her I would like someone to come and clean and cook and right away she had recommended Carmen which I recommend her to you guys if your looking for someone to do the cleaning and cooking she cooks amazing !!!!!! Before arriving Marina was so helpful to me we spoke over the phone such a sweet lady she told me of a few restaurants where they do delivery and stores (which helped a lot) she also arranged for someone to pick me up at the airport. The condo is so nice and clean it's just like you see in pictures the people at the lobby are so helpful and nice too always willing to help. Marina has everything you need in that apartment towels, sheets, pillows, kitchen supplies, everything you would need to feel at home! Not to mention she had a nice fruit basket for me
When I arrived and some of my favorite beverages that I mentioned over the phone to her :) only think that I would recommend is putting some TVs I'm the bedrooms at time I just wanted to lay down and watch tv and I couldn't! But overall it was a amazing experience I would definitely go back and recommend this place!
In January and February of 2014 I spent 17 days in marina’s apartment.
Very spacious apartament in good condition.
The entire infrastructure – a/c, hot water, fridge, washing machine – worked impeccably.
Good location: 10 minutes to metro (Balaguer), 8 minutes to grocery store (“Nacional”, Avenida Máximo Gómez), 15 minutos to dry cleaners (“La Sirena” mall, Avenida José Contreras).
You can walk the surrounding streets safely day and night.
The building comes with a reception that is staffed with a guard around the clock. The guards are very helpful and would call a taxi for you upon request.
Marina tried her best to support me. She arranged airport pickup for me and provided me with a hair dryer.
The apartment is located on a busy street (arterial that leads out of the the city, guagua route). Since the building wasn’t built with any noise protection (18 centimeter outside walls, single glazed windows) you are exposed to traffic noise and honking horns all day with some relief between 1 and 6 a.m.
The blinds don’t shut the sun out. Since the sun rises on the side of the bed rooms they are full of bright light from early morning hours. To cover the windows of the main bed room I bought dark fabric and glued it onto the walls.
La Taperia: Spanish restaurant at ridiculous prices, great cazuela de mariscos and fabada asturiana, located in Àgora Mall next to Pedro Mir metro station.
Palmito Gourmet: exceptional Dominican restaurant, sensational Sancocho and Asopao de marsiscos, located in calle Arzobispo Portes 401 (histroric city center).
If you are interested in eating cheaply but would like to escape the pervasive shitty US food, you can try Dominican food including yuca or yautia: self-service restaurant in “La Sirena” mall, Avenida José Contreras.
Olivo: Very elegant Spanish restaurant with garden at European prices, very tasty sea food soup or paella, 12 minutes by foot in calle Madame Curie 19.
For learning Spanish:
C-E-I-C Centro de Enseñanza de Idiomas y Cultura en la calle Primera 7, 6 minutes by foot from María Montez metro station.
This was a horrible stay the people at the building were so rude my husband and sister would use the pool and would have a snobby rude Dominican lady telling them to quite down to get out if the pool that their shorts weren't up to standards the air conditioner would not come on and when it did it would take hours to get cold the toilets amazingly stopped working the second day of my stay on 3 different their were women arguing downstairs in the lobby about the conditions of the building u hear everything thru the walls the cleaning lady called me at night to come clean after I left I was accused of stealing ikea lamps when there is surveillance on the property and I live very we'll in New York City I was charged for the toilets not working and was accused of throwing things other than paper in all 3toilets I would never recommend any one to stay here it is very pretty but looks can be deceiving if u want low quality people giving u dirty looks being hawked if your family visits as if you are in a jail then I say stay but my time was a rude awakening
This bldg. is a luxury condominium where professionals reside; and
unfortunately these guests were unable to use the facilities in an
appropriate way. There were 5 extra guests that were unaccounted for,
so 8 guests
in total when the apartment was rented for 3. The place was trashed after
they left: a balcony chair and brand new lamp broken, smoking on the
premises, toilets clogged, sink in guest bathroom taken off the wall,
stained sheets and towels, kitchen cabinet door unusable, and much more.
Hundreds of dollars in damages were reported after this stay, and much more
lost in rental at this busy time for the Caribbean area while repairs were
completed. Needless to say, I would not recommend these guests, and hope
that my other wonderful reviews paint a better picture of many who have
stayed with me before.
About the Host, Marina
I'm a retired university professor with a "virtual" translation business and spend time in the DR, in the US (Washington DC metro area) and in Buenos Aires, Argentina where my father was ambassador for the Dominican Republic in the 70's.
I love to travel and I will be pleased to have you share my apt in Santo Domingo and enjoy 180 degrees vistas of the oldest European city in the New World and the Caribbean sea from a spacious, new building with many, many amenities.
