About this listing
Beautiful authentic room with private bathroom for rent in De Pijp.
The room has it's own entrance and is located on the second floor of a very authentic, old house. The street is next to the beautiful Amstel river and the pretty Sarphatipark.
The Pijp is known for it's lively, artistic atmosphere. Around here are many restaurants, cafes, galleries and lively daily market Albert Cuyp. Main attraction is the Heineken brewery. This area is more Amsterdam alike than the city center. This neighborhood is more working class and locals hangout.
The room is very centrally located in between the museum district (which is only a 15 min walk away) and the Amsterdam city center (which is in the other direction 10 min away from here).
The city center starts at the Utrechtsestraat, crossing all the canals heading towards Kalverstraat, the biggest shopping street in town.
Complete downtown area is doable by foot, or take the tram 4 or 3 which will take you anywhere downtown or train station to transfer for the train to the airport.
I would be happy helping you out where to go based on your personal interest, or sending you any information about concerts, theater or give you other suggestions which make your stay more convenient.
The environment is important to me! I use eco-friendly cleaning products for the room and laundry; solar panels reduce our power use; organic shower gel and soap; even the latest washing machine to use minimum water and detergent.
Guests will have access to their own private room and private bathroom shower room with toilet. Also provided is a mini fridge, microwave and cutlery. Towels and bedding is included.
Interaction with Guests
Guests can always ask me anything, anytime. I am always around or easy to reach by phone or email.
Lots off public transportation around my house. Two city trams 3 and 4 will take you everywhere down the city center. Also metro station, Amstel station and Central station are easy to reach from here.
Other Things to Note
The twoo stairs to my room are steep!
Do not throw anything else than toilet paper in the toilet please!
Iris's place is absolutely great!! It has all it takes for a wonderful time in Amsterdam: great structure and location! Very close to the city center, in a 10 minute walk. Me and my wife, totally recommended!
Iris wasn't in amsterdam to meet us, however her friend met us, and was very welcoming. As our flight arrived early, iris was happy yo have us leave our suitcases, which was a huge help. Yes the stairs are very steep, but apartment is clean and the bed is very comfortable. Some great cafes and restaurants around and a short walk to tram 4 to get into the city.
We only met Iris briefly during our stay, as we were busy seeing all Amsterdam had to offer! When we did meet her she was warm & welcoming. The room was PERFECT. After a 26 hour flight from Sydney it was nice to have a big comfy bed, plenty of space and our own bathroom. The room is exactly as we expected, and noticeably clean. We were given our own keys so we were able to come and go as we pleased. There is a little table and some basic kitchen utensils so we had a little picnic with yummy Amsterdam meats. Would recommend Iris's B&b to all. Thanks Iris!
We arrived (finally) after having a tough time getting directions from the airport/train staff. No fault of our host. Just frantic with travel and unsure where to go. The room is quite lovely and perfect for the one night (or multiple nights). Iris was kind enough to order us a taxi for the next morning (early, early, early). Close to the tram that takes you right in to town. And, once we understood the layout of the city, we were able to walk back from the center. I would recommend staying here for sure. And, if it had been available on our return, we would have stayed more nights. One word of caution...the steps up to the third floor are no joke! They are STEEP. :)

About the Host, Iris
I am born and raised in Amsterdam. Next to Amsterdam I've lived in Cincinnati, Ohio (U.S.A) and at the countryside of France at the Dordogne. I used to travel a lot in the U.S.A and love cities like New York, Washington DC and Chicago. Bryce canyon was the most spectacular park I ever visited. I live alone with my two teenage daughters. For a while I went to the Art Academy, but quit because I preferred to become a dj. Finally I am working in hospitality for about 20 years. I wrote business plans for my own techno program for a nightclub a saladebar and 100% organic cafetaria. My b&b is an eco friendly one, it means I care about the environment and only offer and use organic products. I like to talk with my guests about Amsterdam or my biggest hobby electronic music.
