Description

The space

The Pijp is known for it's lively, artistic atmosphere. Around here are many restaurants, cafes, galleries and lively daily market Albert Cuyp. Main attraction is the Heineken brewery. This area is more Amsterdam alike than the city center. This neighborhood is more working class and locals hangout.

The room is very centrally located in between the museum district (which is only a 15 min walk away) and the Amsterdam city center (which is in the other direction 10 min away from here).

The city center starts at the Utrechtsestraat, crossing all the canals heading towards Kalverstraat, the biggest shopping street in town.

Complete downtown area is doable by foot, or take the tram 4 or 3 which will take you anywhere downtown or train station to transfer for the train to the airport.

I would be happy helping you out where to go based on your personal interest, or sending you any information about concerts, theater or give you other suggestions which make your stay more convenient.

The environment is important to me! I use eco-friendly cleaning products for the room and laundry; solar panels reduce our power use; organic shower gel and soap; even the latest washing machine to use minimum water and detergent.

Guest access

Guests will have access to their own private room and private bathroom shower room with toilet. Also provided is a mini fridge, microwave and cutlery. Towels and bedding is included.

Interaction with guests

Guests can always ask me anything, anytime. I am always around or easy to reach by phone or email.

Getting around

Tram number 4 & 3 stops at the end of my street, a 5 min walk away. Tram number 7 & 10 stop a 10 min walk away. The subway stop to Central station and towards Bijlmer Arena ( Ziggodome, Heineken music hall, Ajax Football stage with P+R parking) is about 5 min walk from here.

Other things to note

I like to mention I only use organic products, like cleaning /washing products and I only offer organic products like shampoo/ shower gel/ coffee and tea you can all use. I can do your laundry on request. My washing machine and dryer are eco quality and I have solar panels on my roof.
The two stairs to my room are steep!

Iris's apartment was perfect for our two night stop over, it is light, large and comfortable. The main room still has much of its original character with huge double pained windows ,new radiators for heat and stripped floor boards through out .The bathroom has been renovated and is spacious. The entire apartment is extremely clean .Iris has provided utensils for simple food preparation including microwave ,a kettle for boiling water and a coffee machine. She provides tea and coffee. We loved De Pijp area , lots of bars and cafes. We got to eat dinner at The Bazar though at the counter as it is extremely popular and a delicious breakfast at Little Collins both recommended by Iris. Also around the corner in the adjacent street is a spruced up "Brown Cafe" [Brouwerij' Ty, Ceintuur Baan de Pijp] which has rotating beers on tap and super friendly staff, free peanuts to shell and throw on the floor if you desire! Communication pre check in with Iris was efficient and clear, she was home to welcome us .Iris gave us a map and recommendations which trams to get to certain areas. Also suggestions where to eat and directions to the market which was a short walk for the original hot "of the griddle " Stroop wafel! We would definitely stay in Iris's apartment again when in charming Amsterdam.

Iris's place was very central and easy to walk around Amsterdam. It was clean, warm, and right next to one of Amsterdam's canals in a beautiful neighborhood. It's a unique house and was everything we expected.

We loved staying in Iris's cute airbnb. The room was very cute, and had all the amenities we needed for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable and clean. We really appreciated the counter in the bathroom, it helps for two people getting ready in the morning. The stairs are a bit daunting if you have heavy luggage, it is quite an experience! The location was in a nice quiet area, across from a school, but very close walking distance to nice cafés, bars and transit.

The appartment is located in a quiet neighbourhood, at walking distance from everything important. The place itself is exactly as in the pictures, very spacious, comfortable and lovely. Iris was a great host, she greeted us on arrival and gave us a few tips to get around. We would definitely come back to Iris' place and we recommend it to anyone who wants a wonderful place to stay in Amsterdam!

We couldnt have been happier with our stay at Iris'. It was the perfect dreamy place to stay in Amsterdam. It really is like you're in a hotel room-- totally private from the main house. We ended up staying in De pijp most of our visit... it has to be the best neighborhood in Amsterdam. Endless restaurants and coffee shops. We just went to the grocery and got our own breakfast items to save money. If you are interested in going to the city center, it's a quick walk. :) already dreaming about our next visit! Thank you for everything!!

I am born and raised in Amsterdam. Next to Amsterdam I've lived in Cincinnati, Ohio (U.S.A) and at the countryside of France at the Dordogne. I used to travel a lot in the U.S.A and love cities like New York, Washington DC and Chicago. Bryce canyon was the most spectacular park I ever visited. I live alone with my two teenage daughters. For a while I went to the Art Academy. Finally I am working in hospitality for about 20 years. I wrote business plans for my own techno program for a nightclub a saladebar and 100% organic cafetaria. My b&b is an eco friendly one, it means I care about the environment and only offer and use organic products. I like to talk with my guests about Amsterdam or my biggest hobby electronic music.
