About this listing
Beautiful authentic room with private bathroom for rent in De Pijp.
The room has it's own entrance and is located on the second floor of a very authentic, old house. The street is next to the beautiful Amstel river and the pretty Sarphatipark.
The Pijp is known for it's lively, artistic atmosphere. Around here are many restaurants, cafes, galleries and lively daily market Albert Cuyp. Main attraction is the Heineken brewery. This area is more Amsterdam alike than the city center. This neighborhood is more working class and locals hangout.
The room is very centrally located in between the museum district (which is only a 15 min walk away) and the Amsterdam city center (which is in the other direction 10 min away from here).
The city center starts at the Utrechtsestraat, crossing all the canals heading towards Kalverstraat, the biggest shopping street in town.
Complete downtown area is doable by foot, or take the tram 4 or 3 which will take you anywhere downtown or train station to transfer for the train to the airport.
I would be happy helping you out where to go based on your personal interest, or sending you any information about concerts, theater or give you other suggestions which make your stay more convenient.
The environment is important to me! I use eco-friendly cleaning products for the room and laundry; solar panels reduce our power use; organic shower gel and soap; even the latest washing machine to use minimum water and detergent.
Guests will have access to their own private room and private bathroom shower room with toilet. Also provided is a mini fridge, microwave and cutlery. Towels and bedding is included.
Interaction with Guests
Guests can always ask me anything, anytime. I am always around or easy to reach by phone or email.
Lots off public transportation around my house. Two city trams 3 and 4 will take you everywhere down the city center. Also metro station, Amstel station and Central station are easy to reach from here.
Other Things to Note
The twoo stairs to my room are steep!
Do not throw anything else than toilet paper in the toilet please!
We had a lovely stay in Iris' room. The details of the apartment are grand and charming all at once, like much of Amsterdam. Iris provided detailed directions, was quick to respond to questions, and graciously flexible with our arrival time.
We loved staying in De Pijp, which was very easily accessible to the busier areas of town by tram but less overrun with tourists that we quickly felt at home in the neighborhood.
The room was wonderfully clean and comfortable - and the warnings are true, the stairs resemble a ladder more than a typical staircase! We especially loved the recommended restaurant Anne & Max- everything we ate/drank there was divine and it is in a lovely neighborhood near markets etc!
Very nice room with all stuff that you need for a few days, friendly host with good individual advice, we had a great time in the pijp, thank you Iris!
Iris made us feel very welcome and was able to give great advice of things to see/do in Amsterdam. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and in an area very well connected by the Amsterdam's excellent tram service.
Iris met me at the place just as promised. It was exactly how it is shown in the pictures although I think the room is larger than it appears even. I appreciated having the little fridge, microwave and dishes to make some basic meals. I didn't have a lot of interaction with Iris because I didn't require it, but the couple of times I had quick questions she was prompt in her response. The location was walkable to the city center for sure, though a bit far depending where exactly you were going. The trams were easy to take though if I was tired of walking. I appreciated staying out of the busy city center because the area was much more local and less crowded. I would echo that the stairs to get up to the room are extremely steep. I had a small carry-on size suitcase and I have no idea how I would have gotten a regular sized suitcase up there, although I'm sure people have done it. Overall I would recommend the room to others!
Quartier charmant non loin des centres d'attraction d'Amsterdam.

About the Host, Iris
I am born and raised in Amsterdam. Next to Amsterdam I've lived in Cincinnati, Ohio (U.S.A) and at the countryside of France at the Dordogne. I used to travel a lot in the U.S.A and love cities like New York, Washington DC and Chicago. Bryce canyon was the most spectacular park I ever visited. I live alone with my two teenage daughters. For a while I went to the Art Academy, but quit because I preferred to become a dj. Finally I am working in hospitality for about 20 years. I wrote business plans for my own techno program for a nightclub a saladebar and 100% organic cafetaria. My b&b is an eco friendly one, it means I care about the environment and only offer and use organic products. I like to talk with my guests about Amsterdam or my biggest hobby electronic music.
