Great location

Are you coming on vacation or perhaps considering moving to Sarasota?

If yes, then this is an awesome location to use as your base camp while you explore the area. The hustle and bustle of main street is just half a mile away. Very safe and easy walk to literally dozens of trendy shops, casual restaurants, cool bars and upscale boutiques.

The Carriage House is the perfect place for solo adventurers or couples to explore and enjoy the best Sarasota has to offer.

The space
This place is so much better than a hotel room. You will have your own private building with nobody above or below. Main bed is a King sized luxury foam from Tuft and Needle. Sofa pulls out to become a surprisingly comfortable twin size memory foam bed. We are neat freaks. Tons of free amenities.

Here are my top ten recommendations on things to do:

1. Start your day at Fresh Start Cafe (.2 miles, 4 min walk). The food is outstanding.
2. Walk to Selby Gardens (.4 miles, 8 min walk). World Class botanical gardens.
3. Main Street (.5 miles, 11 min walk) is packed with boutiques and restaurants.
4. Hop an Uber or drive to the Ringling museum (4.6 miles)
5. For amazing seafood, eclectic decor and live entertainment, try Owen's Fish Camp. It is .3 miles away, only a 6 minute walk.
6. Burn's Court Cinema is right next door to Owens. Not your run of the mill cineplex. It is a small theater offering first-run foreign, independent & art films along with beer, wine & popcorn.
7. St. Armand's Circle shopping and entertainment district is 3.4 miles away. Great people watching, coffee shops and boutiques.
8. Want to go to the beach? Lido Beach is consistently rated as one of the best beaches in the US. It is 4.1 miles away, about a 12 minute drive.
9. Want an up close experience with the creatures of the sea? Try Mote Marine Laboratory, it is 4.7 miles from your front door. This aquarium has: Sharks, lionfish, jellyfish, etc. You can pet stingrays, horseshoe crabs, sea cucumbers, starfish, and urchins. There's also a giant squid preserved in a tank.
10. Bayfront Park is .6 miles away, about a 13 minute walk. It has the bay on one side and downtown Sarasota on the other side. Wait for the sunset in the evenings and you will never be bored, because the pelicans entertain you. Good spot to see wild dolphins. Try O'Leary's Tiki Bar and Grill. Sunset ferry available too!

5 bonus things to do while staying at the Carriage House:

1. Sarasota Farmer's Market is open every Saturday, year round, between 7am and 1pm. It is .8 miles from your front door, about a 15 minute walk. You will see products and services of local farmers, businesses and artisans. A true foodie paradise, with over 5,000 square feet of produce, plants and a market that includes over 70 vendors, this hip farmers market has a fresh and friendly vibe that just shouts Sarasota.

2. Bike the MURT (Multi Use Recreational Trail) using the beach cruisers we provide. You pick up the MURT less than a block away. Highlights include gigantic statue of sailor kissing nurse and world's greatest sunset off the John Ringling Bridge.

3. Explore the watery side of Sarasota. We provide a kayak and the launch site is less than one block away. You will likely see manatees, dolphins and lots of mullet.

4. Bobby Jones Golf Club is 4.1 miles away. Convenient public course with reasonable rates.

5. Other can't miss things to do include: PF Changs Restaurant (.5 miles), Word of Mouth Breakfast Cafe (.6 mile walk down the MURT trail), Frisbee Golf, al fresco cafe and live music at Payne Park (.9 miles), Nancy's Bar-b-que (.4 miles), Indigenous Restaurant and Towles Court
Artist Colony (.5 miles), downtown art festivals almost every weekend and a boatload of really nice people.

Three things I cannot live without; coffee, wine and chocolate. My hobbies include exercise (spinning and bodypump are my favorites), playing the piano and spending time with my family. Married with two wonderful children. I vacationed in Sarasota for many years before making it my adopted hometown. There are so many things to see and do right outside the front door. Thank you for choosing to spend your vacation in beautiful Southwest Florida. I look forward to getting to know you!

If you want any recommendations, I love to talk about my adopted hometown. I think Sarasota is the best place in the world. I wouldn't live anyplace else.
