The Space

Sunrises get your day off to a great start of adventures or relaxation. Hiking to an almost private beach on the historic king’s trail, or swimming with the turtles at a close by black sand beach, maybe a kayak with the dolphins and fish at “Two-step” or Hookena. These are two of our favorite beaches.
Returning in time for a nice cocktail and BBQ while watching the sunset over the horizon, sitting in the swing under the lilikoi bush with a good book, playing a game of pool and watching the sun go down and the moon take its place.
This is the place to get away from it all. “Big Sky Country” a place for soaking in the quiet while watching the star filled sky, unobstructed from city lights and sounds……….just nature.
Yet you are only 3 miles from a great little town of Ocean View with all the amenities, grocery’s, gas, restaurants and a festive Saturday market. There you can stock up on fresh honey, fruits, veggies, Kau coffee along with a locally made souvenirs for you or your friends and meet the people of the town.
This is a great destination being in the middle of the Island, 45 miles from Kona and 65 miles from Hilo. From here is where you want to explore South Point and the “Green Sand beach”, Naalehu and it’s famous bakery, Punaluu and the turtle swarmed “Black Sand beach”. Volcano National Park with the ever changing lava and Thurstons lava tube. Or stay local and visit the Kula Kai Caverns for some Spelunking, and the magnificent white sand beach of Pohue Bay.
Whatever you chose to do this a tranquil place where relaxation and adventure meet. Kona and Hilo are accessible for the partier. And a library of books, DVDs and games are here for the lighter vacationer. Please come and enjoy.

The Neighborhood

I love the peace and quiet, it seems like your the only person out here. At night you see all the stars and can watch the full cycle of the moon. No city lights here. Old Lava flow full of unique and interesting lava formations and caves to explore.

Getting around

A rental car is pretty necessary here. There is the "Hele-on" bus that will take you around the island for $1 but they don't run that often and the bus stop is 3 miles up the hill.

Other Things to Note

There sometimes are strong winds here, but it does keep bugs at bay.

Aloha I love to travel with my partner Dan. When we were visiting the island of Hawaii we fell in love with the diversity of the people and the land. Hawaii is a living creature growing bigger everyday. Amazing. However California summers also have a strong pull on us and we spend them traveling in our Toyota RV to music festivals. we'll return to Hawaii once California cools down. Please come and enjoy our place while we our enjoying others. Mahalo
