Description

The space

This is a very comfortable pull-out sofa in the living room of my apartment. The apartment has a full bath, kitchen, and small office area. It is equipped with Wi-Fi and cable TV. The location is perfect: In Recoleta/Barrio Norte and just one block to the subway and two blocks to world-famous Santa Fe Avenue. It is just a seven-block walk to the Recoleta Cemetery - home to Evita Peron.

My building was constructed in the late 1950's and is considered to be Rationalist in design. The lobby, lined with dark wood, has a very Art Deco feel to it and my apartment does as well.

The prior owners, a young doctor and banking executive, completely remodeled my apartment just one year before I moved in, installing Italian marble in the bathroom and granite kitchen tops and all new appliances. The floors are the original parquet wood floors from the original owners.

I also have an extra mobile phone with a local # you can borrow while here. You just need to add credit to it.

Guest access

Wi-Fi, kitchen, TV, Playstation 3

Interaction with guests

I work out of my apartment so I am around during the day to answer any questions or help with things.

The neighborhood

It's near the school of medicine so the streets are filled with medical students during the day and until around 10 pm.

Getting around

Just a block from the Facultad de Medicina subway station (Line D), two blocks from Santa Fe Avenue and walking distance to tons of restaurants.

House Rules

Nothing formal, but no smoking and no guests without permission. And, if you want to make coffee, make enough for me, too! :)

Great apartment in a very central location, something non negotiable in Buenos Aires where the subway only have connections in the micro centre of the city. The apartment was clean, functional and the couch/bed comfortable. Matt is a very nice host willing to give advice if you don't know what to visit or where to eat! He also was very flexible with the hours of check in/out, which was very much appreciated. I would totally recommend his place !

Matt was awesome. Very hospitable and knows the city like the back of his hand. His place in Recoleta is also very conveniently located. Highly recommended!

Matt's place is exactly as advertized: nice apartment; sofa bed; nice location in Recoleta. Matt himself was incredibly flexible and patient with my arrival time, which changed. Above all, he is a good guy to hang out with. I learned more about Argentina in two hours with Matt than I had in two weeks before meeting him. Great host!

I stayed with Matt for a couple days in Buenos Aires. It is in a great location for walking and taking public transportation. The best part of staying with Matt was him showing me around his neighboorhood and surrounding area. He used to be a tour guide, and he really knows his stuff! I wouldn't have even gotten all that information if I researched for hours. I was also there during a holiday so the vibe of the city was a little different than usual (from what I gather) but Matt helped me find open places to explore. The couch bed was also comfortable!

I'm an expatriate from the USA who has been living in Buenos Aires, Argentina since early 2007.

I work full-time but can accommodate one person most nights of the week. I worked in tourism my first year in Buenos Aires, so (time allowing!), I'd also be happy to give you a walking tour of Recoleta and the surrounding neighborhoods in the evenings or weekends and, of course, fill you in on the best places to eat, drink and be merry!
