The Space

Fully furnished room with Split A/C unit in room. This room is downstairs and has a shared bathroom with one other room. Max. occupancy is 2 persons. Bedroom is 11 x 11 sq. feet. There is a kitchen to use on each floor. There are 2 1/2 bathrooms and 1 outdoor shower for our guests to use. We are happy to give you the "Nickel Tour" of this area. There is a bus stop conveniently located just across the street from this home. It is 1/2 mile from the boat harbor (where the diving, fishing, whale and dolphin tour boats launch daily). There are some great restaurants and cafes in the area. The nearest large town is Kapolei, where there is a Costco, Home Depot, numerous restaurants, Water Park/Water Slides. My place is unique in that it is close to the ocean where one can easily access the beach to watch sunsets, explore a cave, go on hikes (beginner to advanced). The highway to and from this home is along the ocean where we have seen whales breeching, dolphins swimming in pods and even Manta Rays at play along the shoreline. Come stay with us for a "Local Hawaiian Experience".

Guest Access

All guests will have free parking of their rental car, we loan out snorkel and beach equipment, as well as beach towels. Every guest is given a clean towel at check-in. There is a washer/dryer available for your use at no extra charge. The laundry room is kept locked, but there's a key made available in the downstairs kitchen. We have Boogie Boards, a surf board available to borrow.

Interaction with Guests

I like to be able to greet my guests when they arrive, however, I do have a part-time nursing job which takes me away from home for a few days during the week-end. We can be in touch by phone and email, if not in person. Also, I have a lock box on the front door of each home to allow my guests to get in the front door (always put key immediately back into lock box once you get in front door.) All rooms are numbered so we'll be in touch to get you to the correct area of the house to find your room. I like to give all my guests the "Nickel Tour" to show them our beautiful beaches, points of interest, restaurants and places to see turtles, dolphins, whales, seals and lots of tropical fish on the West Coast of Oahu.

The Neighborhood

Since I'm more of a evening/night owl, I love taking in the gorgeous sunsets most evenings either from the beach directly across the street at the Banana Patch Home or from the back yard of the Pineapple Patch Home (wherever I happen to be). I would love for my guests to feel my homes are a sanctuary from the hustle bustle of the more touristy parts of Oahu. I like the extra space on my properties where nature can be appreciated. It would be great if each guest could see the beautiful secluded beaches found on our Leeward coastline. This is a healing place.

Getting Around

There is a bus stop directly across the street from the Banana Patch Home (heading toward Honolulu-East). Parking is FREE on the driveway of this property. Getting a rental car is best, a shuttle or taxi (next best), then The Bus (which can take 1 1/2 - 2 hours depending on traffic, weather, etc.) Once here, you could rent a bike from Hale Nalu bike shop just down the street.

Other Things to Note

We encourage our guests to eat out of our organic garden (fruit trees : bananas, papayas, pommello, citrus, and mango (when in season), veggies and herbs and aloe vera. FYI : We do have cats at the Banana Patch location for those of you with allergies.
