Located a stone’s throw from the banks of the Tiber and 500m from Saint Peter’s Basilica, thanks to its top-floor location on Piazza Adriana Le Stanze del Vaticano boasts breath-taking views of the ancient papal fortress of Castel Sant’Angelo, whose imposing fortifications are quite literally across the road from our front door.
Recently refurbished to very high standards, Le Stanze del Vaticano offers guests 3 triple-bedroom suites, all of which can be converted to 2-bed according to your needs. All our suites - named after Rome’s most famous Popes – benefit from brand new furnishings, en-suite bathrooms, TVs and free Wi-Fi.
Our “Urbano II” benefits from en-suite kitchenettes, and our guests are welcome to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or dinner in our common room (which may also be rented out as an additional bedroom, without en-suite), which also boasts a spectacular view of Castel Sant’Angelo.
Breakfast is provided by renowned local eatery Gran Caffè Cavour.
We hope that Le Stanze del Vaticano will be your springboard for exploring Rome, and with the Vatican less than 5 minutes’ walk away, Castel Sant’Angelo and the “Bridge of Angels” just across the street, and the bustling streets of the Centro Storico with their sights and shopping less than half a mile away (not to mention Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Campo de’ Fiori, and Trastevere, all within a mile radius, with Piazza Venezia, the Coliseum and the Forum just a short bus ride away) there is no reason why it shouldn’t be.
We are a family-run, typically Roman establishment and we will be more than happy to advise you on sightseeing and the best places to eat out in our neighbourhood. Private guided tours to Rome’s main tourist attractions, with fully bilingual and registered guides, are also available on request.
(Please note that we also offer private, secure parking in our building upon request)
Le Stanze del Vaticano is located half a mile from the “Ottaviano – San Pietro” Metro station and is easily accessible from Termini Central Station by Bus, Metro or Taxi. Guests can also take a train to San Pietro Train Station directly from Fiumicino Airport by changing at Trastevere Station.
We stayed for five nights at Giulio's place. We had arranged to be there late , around 19.40 and Giulio was there waiting for us. He showed us the place, it was very clean and nice. I asked for some tips and he told us places to go, and even some local recommended taverns. Generally he was very helpful and available whenever needed. The place is quite close to the center, like 10-12 minutes to piazza navona walking slowly and the way back was always a charm because we just liked crossing the river at night. The breakfast is at a nearby cafe at piazza cavour, friendly staff and nice quality, even though it's just a croissant and coffee. All in all the place is extremely recommended. We had absolutely no issue at all. Hot water was available all day long and the pressure was actually amazing !
Thank you Giulio!

Nice, cozy and very clean apartament in a great location. In a walking distance to the mayor monuments of Rome and Vatican. Giulio, as a host, was very professional and helpful. In the price of apartametn there was a italian brekfast (coffee plus brioche) in nearby cafe. It worh to mentioning that they serve magnificent espresso and cappuccino. There was a cleaning service everyday. Apartament has its own balcony, where glass of wine in the evening, after all day of sightseeing, taste the best.
The tenement house has 3 staircases, be sure to enter to staircase B.
Urbano II is nicely located just next to castel st angelo so it is easy to find and it is a very safe area next to jurisdiction building and 2 police stations unlike around termini station we don't feel safe. Major bus stations nearby. Walking distance to Vatican.
We arrive from airport by SIT airport shuttle from flumicino airport (keep walking to the far end in the airport till you reach the group of airport bus).
We arranged late check in at around 18:30pm. Extra 10 euro
The directions given are a bit misleading and the owner cannot be contacted by txt message. It would be nice if the owner could leave the contact of the person who will be waiting for us if he is busy and could not be reached by phone. We were lucky that one of the neighbours from another tower help us locate where the apartment actually is. For durections ,once enter the big gate , it is the center wooden door Tower B , 5/F , right door. ( in case anyone lost in the future)
Otherwise the place is really pleasent , giulo's mother was so kind and we were given directions around. I suggest purchasing Roma pass for 3 -4 days stay.
Breakfast at a near cafe is tasty pleasant and local. Wifi didn't work the first day but was sorted out the next day efficiently. Hot water supply is not a problem. The room is neat and functional.
Great location and place to stay! Easy to get to from the airport and walking distance to everywhere.
We had a great time! We were able to arrange for our family to pick up keys from Giulio since we were arriving very, very late, which ultimately worked perfectly.
It's a great, peaceful apartment in a nice neighborhood... Absolutely no hot water problems here!
It's important to start by saying that most of the reason that our stay was even somewhat unpleasant here was because the hot water was out of service during the two days we were there. Giulio did the right thing, though, and worked super hard to try to fix the problem and stay in touch with us about it.
Overall, the apartment has several pros and several cons.
Pros: charming building, well located, bathroom is quite large, Giulio is pretty good at staying in touch should you need him, and the internet works great.
Cons: no living room (so nowhere to just sit and "be" if you aren't in bed - if you are two people and using both rooms/beds), and there were not enough blankets to keep warm in slightly chilly (at night) October.
I'd stay here again. It's slightly pricy for the size, but worth it overall. Giulio left us slightly hanging upon arrival in terms of staying in touch (but most of that was because we were requesting to drop our stuff off earlier than his clearly posted check in time - not really his fault), but when we met him, he was super friendly and helpful and very apologetic about the water situation.
-The apartment location is great. Close to everything and a great place instead of all the near-Termini neighborhood.
-The suite is well furnished, big and we liked it.
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION: if you are ordering early enough you better take the leo X suite- which have panoramic view (it is written only in his site: http://(email hidden)/)
-The breakfast in a near restaurant is conventional but great (great coffee, croissant, toast, juice)
-Giulio is really nice, even though he isn't quite reachable.
-During our stay, Giulio was away and the water boiler didn't work- so we had to shower in cold water for 4 days! Something that really left a bad taste…
- It is written in his site that if you stay for more than 5 days, your room will be clean on the fifth day. We stayed for 7 days and nobody cleaned our rooms until we left.
Great place to be and great price.
Excellent location, just 15 minutes walking distance from the Vatican and 30 minutes walking distance from Piazza Navona. Bus stops are all around the corner. The apartment itself is good: room + living/kitchen + bathroom and a balcony facing inside the building. I has not the best bed you'll sleep on but not the worst either. You'll have a silent night and there's an air conditioner. Also a good breakfast from a close cafe is included.
We had problems getting hot water. We only managed to get a hot shower on the last night and last morning. We weren't told about this issue before booking so I'll assume that Giulio wasn't aware of it. I STRONGLY recommend asking about the hot water BEFORE booking.
