Where do I begin? Manuel made our amazing trip so much better. We only stayed with him for 2 nights but he helped with so much else! He and the taxi driver he uses, Francisco (who was great too) picked us up from the airport and took us all the way to ollantaytambo with stops along the way! Manuel isn't a travel guide himself, but he is full of knowledge and truly loves his country and culture. They picked us up from ollantaytambo after our trip to machu picchu and took us to his house in Cusco, with stops along the way then too! We went to very authentic, local places, which is exactly what we asked for! We also hit all the major ruins in the area. His house is great! Nice location with an amazing view of the entire city. We spent as much time as possible up there taking it all in. The bed was comfortable and warm. Bathroom was very clean. We had a cooking lesson with his mother in law and wife. So much fun! And his son Fabio is the cutest, most well behaved little boy! We didn't have a hotel room booked for our night in Lima and Manuel helped make sure we did before we left. He even asked a friend of his from Lima some recommendations on restaurants to try. I could go on and on about how great he is. I was sad to leave him and his wonderful family and home. Consider yourself lucky if you get to stay with Manuel! Till next time my friend!
Manuel is a welcoming, genuine guy who does his best to make your stay comfortable. He has multiple rooms available for rent, and he tries to create a family atmosphere there. The room is simple and there is a bathroom on each floor so it is usually available. We enjoyed sharing dinner and a few breakfasts as a group while in Cusco. His home is about 1.5 miles from the Plaza del Armas, but the walk is pretty easy. It was a great place to stay.
My friend and I stayed with Manuel for 5 nights (the entirety of our time in Cusco), and I do not exaggerate when I say that we could not have imagined a better experience! Manuel and his family are so kind and accommodating, and they truly do treat their guests (or friends, as they call them) like family (Manuel's motto seems to be 'no worries!').
Talking of the sleeping arrangements, my friend continues to call the beds at Manuel's the "best beds in Perú", and I am inclined to agree- they were very comfortable and warm (plenty of blankets), and the room was lovely. The bathroom facilities were also very nice- having reliable hot water in Cusco was a godsend! As we did not stay long, we did not get to use the lounge area too much, but from what we saw and experienced it was very comfortable and offered a nice shared space (with a TV and computer) for anyone staying at the house.
So, if you are going to Cusco and are looking for a place to stay where you will be able to make new friends, eat delicious food, sleep in comfortable beds, be guaranteed hot showers, and receive helpful guidance on any plans you have or wish to make while staying there (alongside some Spanish and history lessons), look no farther than this homestay!
Manuel is the best host we've ever had! From the moment he picked us up at the ariport, we were part of the family. Manuel speaks fluent English and can answer any questions about Cusco, Machu Picchu, or any treks. He will also (patiently) practice Spanish if that's more your style. We got a personal tour of the city from Manuel and the adorable Fabio. We were invited to a family birthday breakfast (for Manuel's wife Stephanie) and we took an archeological tour with Manuel's dad, Daniel, who just might be the most interesting man in the world. We also had a great lomo saltado cooking lesson with the family. Our last night, it turned out we had our flight info wrong (I think we just wanted to stay longer) and Manuel stayed up with us until it was all figured out. If you want the full Peruvian immersion, look no further.
My friend and I stayed with Manuel and his family for two nights before and three nights after finishing the Inca Trail. It was such a pleasure staying with Manuel and his family and I hope to visit them again soon! Manuel is an extremely welcoming, gracious, and attentive host. He made a point of checking in with us throughout the day to make sure we had everything we needed and thoroughly answered any and all questions we had about Cusco. The facilities were kept extremely clean and the location was easy to get to and from. We also had a number of meals at Manuel's and they were all delicious -- his wife is a great cook! All in all, we truly had a wonderful time getting to know Manuel's beautiful family and the city of Cusco. Whether you are planning a short or long trip to Cusco, Manuel's is surely the perfect place to stay!
It is not an exaggeration at all to say me and my other young female friend would not have made it to Machu Picchu without Manuel and his family's help. He and his family are kind, polite, and so helpful. They made two young women traveling alone feel not only safe, but confident and welcome .
The house itself is clean, well decorated with warm water and wifi. Absolutely no complaints about the house itself, and the area it is in is just off the beaten track enough to be quiet, though one still feels safe (and it is easy to find- once shown and you'll be able to find your way back).
The homemade breakfasts are delicious, but all this can be found elsewhere- Manuel and his family cannot. They helped us get to Machu Picchu, and if I ever go back I want to take the tour with them. They are knowledgable, sweet, and just so helpful. I recommend them so highly- they are an amazing friend and ally to have.
I've just returned home after a week at this wonderful homestay! From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave you are taken care of like one of the family, a real home from home.
The location is ideal if you want to be a little away from the hustle and bustle of central Cusco but still close enough to walk in when you want, if not a taxi is very cheap at just 5 soles.
The rooms are comfortable and clean with lots of blankets to keep you warm on a chilling night.
One of the best things about this homestay is the wonderful food on offer every day, a real treat and great value.
If you looking for a reasonably priced and very welcoming homestay in Cusco you should seriously consider staying here.
