Excellente adresse, vraiment !
Très bon rapport qualité-prix. J'y enverrais des amis.
During our stay, Manuel has gone the extra mile every single time to make our stay and trip so much easier and enjoyable. His level of patience, kindness and will to help has never been topped before. The place and location were exactly as described, absolutely no complaints at all! We felt like we kinda won the lottery by staying with him, with our friend, with someone who we could trust and make us feel at home. Honestly, 6 stars would've been a better fit! Thank you for everything my friend, we'll never forget everything you did for us! Come visit us in Canada!
Anyone and everyone that comes to Cusco should stay with Manuel and his family! We stayed with him for 6 nights book-ending a trek to Machu Picchu. Manuel truly has been by far the most amazing host we have ever had! He has gone above and beyond with everything and it has made our stay absolutely incredible.
On our first day he offered to walk us into the city of Cusco and show us around. He was super informative and told us all about the history of Cusco and Peru. We stopped along the way at monuments, statues, and museums as he described them all with detail only a local who has lived in cusco his whole life could provide. We had already booked a salkantay trek prior to arriving, but Manuels father does all kinds of tours and we would love to take a trek with him next time! Manuel even talked to our trekking company to finalize arrangements and woke up at 4am with us to see us off. Again, above and beyond. He also invited us to join him on a trip to his local neighborhood market- we were literally the only tourists there, which was a great and unique experience.
House and Accommodation:
The house is beautiful, spacious and very comfortable. Beds were great and warm with plenty of blankets. There is a room upstairs with couches, tables, and a patio with the most incredible views of cusco. There is also a garden to sit in and drink coca tea where we enjoyed hanging out with Manuel and his wonderful family. The house is about a 30 min walk from the main square or a quick 5 minute taxi ride (3 dollars or less). Truly amazing location just far enough from all the touristy hostels.
Stephanie's cooking alone is enough reason to stay here! We had many DELICIOUS meals prepared by her and learned so much about foods that are local to cusco and never would have tried otherwise. From homemade ice cream, to breakfasts with Organic coffee from their family's farm and the biggest most incredible avocados you've ever tasted, the food was never less than exceptional.
Manuel immediately welcomes you into his big, friendly family and ensures you that this is your house now! You really get to experience the culture of cusco by spending time with them, and everyone went out of their way constantly to make sure we were comfortable. Plus, a few days before we arrived they added the most adorable puppy Chema to their family, who was another highlight of the trip.
Basically, you would be crazy to stay anywhere else in cusco!
This homestay was everything one can wish for. Warm family, fabulous food, comfortable bedroom and hot shower. Value added services are available, but not pushed. The views from this hilltop home are incredible. I'd choose this lodging experience instead of a 4 star hotel any day.
Manuel was quite simply the best host that we could have hoped for. From the minute that we arrived at the Poroy train station where he was waiting for us with a sign, to the hot coca tea waiting for us at his home when we arrived, Manuel thought of everything that we needed, and then some.
He and Stephanie cooked breakfast for us every morning for only $2 a person and it was excellent! Fresh bread, eggs, avocados, cereal, juice and the best coffee that we have had in South America. (It comes from his families organic coffee farm in the jungle). We also ate dinner with them one evening where Stephanie prepared the best local soup that we have had. I highly recommend eating some meals with them as well.
Our room was very clean and spacious and we had 4 blankets on our bed for the cool nights in Cusco. Our private bathroom was cleaned every morning and the showers were always hot. He probably has the best view of the city, as his house overlooks all of Cusco. On the first day here, he walked with us downtown and showed us exactly how to get to the main square and back home. He even showed us the oldest neighborhood in Cusco and took us to the local market and bought some local fruit and snacks to share with us.
During the following days we travelled with Manuel and his friend who drove us on a private tour of the sacred valley that included every site on the Boleto Turistica ticket that we purchased in town. It was an excellent experience and Manuel has extensive knowledge of the historic sites and the culture of the Incas as he grew up in Cusco traveling with his father Daniel, who is a licensed tour guide and one of the very first in Cusco. I have no doubt that we saw and learned more than we possibly would have on our own or with another guide. I highly recommend using him to show you around Cusco and the sacred valley.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Manuel and we even booked additional days because we liked staying with him so much. We would have stayed longer if we didn't have plans to move on.
Manuel was always available to answer any questions and to help us with whatever we needed. We will definitely stay with him again when we come back to Peru in the future. You will not be disappointed if you stay with him and his family, who are now our new family as well.
Manual was incredibly helpful. As mentioned our travel plans changed last minute and we had to shift the dates a couple days. He worked with us and offered to pick us up from the airport and give as much information as we needed. I highly recommend !!
I can honestly say that the nights I spent here were by far the most pleasant I've had in all of Peru. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, the balcony view of Cusco is amazing and the breakfasts are a big as they are delicious.
The host, Manuel, deserves an extra mention, as he's not only the friendliest guy in town, but constantly goes out of his way to make sure that his guests have the greatest experience possible.
I would highly recommend spending some time here, as the homestay alone almost made the trip to Cusco worth it.
