  • Manuel and his family were wonderful hosts. Many people in Peru say the phrase "my friends", but when Manuel says it you definitely feel it ring true. We felt welcome as soon as Manuel and Daniel picked us up from the airport and offered us coca tea, which was excellent as we recovered from an illness and adjusted to the altitude.

Manuel had many excellent recommendations for what is worth seeing in Cusco and the Sacred Valley, and our tour with Daniel was the best guided tour throughout our trip - check out Tipon and the lesser visited sites, they are well worth it.

The rooms are basic but comfortable, and hot showers are available though be forewarned that you will need to walk outside and downstairs from your room. Also bear in mind that the location is a bit outside of the center, but it is an easy ride by taxi.

As advertised it is a homestay, so do not expect the full amenities of a hotel. However, you can expect to feel welcome as we did over breakfast and a dinner we shared with Manuel and his family. If you want to feel at home in Cusco, definitely stay here.

  • Manuel and family had provided us with amazing hospitality. A comfortable clean homestay and an amazing view. Pay a bit more and you get great homecooked food by Stephanie! They also provide tours to the Scared Valley - head by Manuel's father, Daniel, who is an incredible guide. This is a stay which provides almost everything. A must stay at Cusco! Should we return to Cusco, no doubt it'll be at Manuel's!!

  • Manuel is simply the best. He's made our stay as comfortable as it could be. He also helped us to buy tickets to Machu Picchu, btw his dad was our private tour guide there. The place is about 5-10 min cab ride to the city centre, the view from the room is stunning. Unfortunately there's no heating but Manuel can provide unlimited amount of super warm blankets so we slept like a baby....
I don't think I've ever met anyone nicer and more accommodating than Manuel, his services are impeccable and would advise his home to anyone visiting Cuzco.

  • Gringo Feliz was great, and Manuel and his family absolutely fabulous. Manuel made us feel at home, and was very, very helpful getting us from the airport and pointing us in the right direction in Cusco. He is one of the kindest, most generous people we have ever met. We highly recommend staying here.

  • When you travel to the other side of the equator, you don't expect to have family waiting for you at the airport. If you are lucky enough to find space at Manuel's, that's exactly who'll be waiting. Manuel and his father Daniel not only waited for our delayed flight, but immediately introduced us to his beautiful, warm-spirited wife Stephanie and son Fabio over a cup of coco tea. Aside from the fact that you have literally the best view of Cusco anywhere in the city, you also have the best hosts. The rooms are incredibly clean, Daniel is ready to be your guide, Manuel will answer all your questions and be your morning smile, and Stephanie will make you breakfast on request and explain how to cook her delicious meals. There is a rooftop lounge with a fireplace, balcony, couches and hookah. There's a garden beside the kitchen with an apricot tree, roses, mint, rosemary, beautiful flowers, cacti, and the sound of little Fabio's laughter. Manuel will help arrange train tickets to Macchu Picchu or anything else you need and the home is ideally situated next to a major market for groceries, gifts, etc. Whether you want to see the north star and little dipper astoundingly clearly at night, have a guaranteed hot shower, be guided through the city or served homemade Peruvian cuisine - everything will be provided accompanied with the warmth of your new family. We expected to leave Peru most impressed by the mountains or ruins, but the first thing we think of as being definitional to our stay and deep appreciation for Peruvian culture is Manuel and his family. As someone not given to hyperbole, I can sincerely say it would be a mistake to stay anywhere else.

(P.S. When you pass by an ice cream place, try the lucuma flavor!)

  • Staying with Manuel and his family was a truly wonderful experience!! Everyone was so incredibly sweet and helpful and how can you not love his adorable son? I was only there for a few days but felt very comfortable and at ease. The neighborhood is on the outskirts of Cusco so it is still easy to walk to the main square - does take about 30 minutes.

  • Manuel was a wonderful host. The house is located close to everything, on the side of the hill overlooking Cusco with nice views. Manuel's dad Daniel (email hidden) - they both made our stay much easier by showing us all the sites of Cusco and organising our trips to Macchu Pichu and Lake Titicaca. We greatly benefited from the private tours organised by Manuel and Daniel - it allowed us to see so much more than if we booked ourselves with a larger tour group.

We found the language barrier a problem at times as we don't speak Spanish but Manuel & Daniel both speak very good English and were able to translate for us during our stay which made our trip run much smoother.

Whilst the accommodation is basic, I would have no hesitation in staying with Manuel again. We felt right at home with Manuel's family.

  • Wow! What wonderful hospitality displayed by Manuel. From the moment he picked us up to the moment we were in the taxi on the way to the airport, he went above and beyond our expectations. He made us feel comfortable and relaxed, and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. And most importantly, he treated us like we were a part of his family.

The location was about a 30-40 minute walk from the Plaza de Armas, or a quick 4-8 soles taxi ride. And the view...ahhh the view overlooking Cusco was amazing from this cozy, nestled-up-on-a-hill locale. Highly recommended.

  • My mother and I stayed with Manuel and his family for 10 days, and what a wonderful 10 days it was! Manuel made me feel at home the second I stepped outside of the Cusco airport. I was so nervous, as it was my first time in South America AND my first time using AirBnb--but Manuel laid every fear of mine to rest. He was waiting right outside the airport with a sign with my name on it, a warm smile, and a friendly, "Welcome to Cusco! Let's go home!"

Manuel has lived in Cusco his entire life, so he is extremely knowledgable about the area. He speaks excellent English, and he was very attentive the entire time we were there. He insisted that we are not merely guests, but a part of his family, and he truly treated us as though we were: inviting us to family dinners, checking in on us, driving us downtown, getting some papers printed for us, taking our laundry to the cleaners, calling a taxi--he would even stand outside the house with us as we waited for our taxi to arrive.

The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. There is a hot shower available downstairs, as well as Wi-Fi. And, oh my gosh, the view! Manuel's house is up on a hill and has multiple stories with wrap-around balconies. You will not find a better view of Cusco anywhere.

Getting to know Manuel and his family was a pleasure. I miss them all dearly. I actually cried when I left, and I'm trying to find a way to get back to Cusco very soon!

I highly, highly recommend staying with Manuel. You'll get a deeper sense for the culture of Cusco, and you'll also gain another family. :)
