This was our second time staying in John's chalet and it made for another great weekend. It's a cozy space in a picturesque location, perfect for relaxing and close to all sorts of fun activities. We're thinking of making it a tradition!
We really enjoyed staying here! There is plenty of room to spread out, and the decks are just outstanding! We also enjoyed the fire pit and grill. The owner John was so helpful. I had a number of questions for him, and he always responded very promptly and politely. I'm already thinking of when I might go back.
The description was accurate, the house was clean and well stocked (towels, kitchen basics, kerosene), and we had a very nice time. We enjoyed the decks, grill, and creek best.
Also, this was a great place to be with small kids: the upstairs play area is safe and well stocked with toys, we were able to set up a kiddie pool on the deck, and we appreciated the highchair and pack n play. We also spent both days at the lake at Tobyhanna park, about 25 minutes away, with a very safe/ shallow lake, nice beach, shady lawn, playground, picnic tables, grills, and bathrooms.
One thing we wish we had better prepared for -- although the house cooled off at night, it was pretty hot during the day, it might be worth bringing some extra fans. We were there in the middle of a heat wave, so this might not always be the case.
But overall, our group (6 adults, 4 kids ranging from 3.5 years old to 18 months) had a lovely time and I would recommend it, especially for families with little kids.
We loved everything about our little vacation in the Poconos. And John's beautiful home was at the very top of the list. The home was perfect and we all fell in love with it. Being my first experience with AirBNB, I must say dealing with John and seeing the great experience it can be, I am thoroughly impressed. Not even the weather could bring our spirits down. I must say John has made me a fan and have made all that accompanied fans as well. Thank you and we will be counting the days that we return. To conclude; Beautiful Home, extremely convenient, genuinely friendly owner and overall wonderful experience. A++
My family and I had a great time at the Davis Chalet. We we're meeting for a mini family reunion and we couldn't have asked for a better space. The house was prepared and clean when we arrived and John made it super simple from directions to handing the keys off. There was plenty of room to hang out and spread out with lots of different areas for kids to be doing their thing while the adults did theirs, with room left over for those who just wanted some quiet time. And the decks! There's tons of them! We spent some quality time on those. My family also enjoyed investigating the babbling brook in the back yard. In all, it was a very relaxing enjoyable and memorable stay with very informative, pleasant and accommodating hosts. We are already talking about the next time we can all get back together at the charming Davis Chalet. Thanks so much!
If you've made it this far, you obviously know we really enjoyed our stay. Here's a couple of pointers that we will be using next time we visit the Davis Chalet:
* Each room has it's own thermostat which is incredibly convenient and cozy _if_ you use it! Some of my family didn't realize there was a control in every room.
* Heed John's advice about stocking up on supplies before you get there. There really isn't a place close by. Things we will bring next time: sugar for the coffee we brought, ziplock bags, paper towels and napkins (my family is a messy bunch and we wanted to keep the place clean), more bottled water, milk.
* There's a great fire bowl on the deck. You may want supplies for s'mores! That was a memorable event for us.
* It gets super dark there! If you have kids you might think about additional night lights (there are already a few there). We ended up leaving some house lights on.
So there you have it! A perfect get away for the family. We can't wait to visit again.
The reservation was canceled 87 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
My wife and I booked this cozy location last minute because of a problem with another host, and we were overjoyed! This is the perfect spot for a relaxing weekend, and John was very accommodating of our last minute request. No problems at all. Would stay again!
Lovely, clean and cozy home. Will definitely be coming back.
We had a wonderful weekend getaway with the family at John's lovely home this past weekend. The 2 little kids absolutely loved going up the stairs to the well stocked play room. The house was fully equipped, stocked, comfortable and functional. Even though there are neighboring houses, we never really heard or saw them around (other than walking their dogs). Overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely look to visit again.
Excellent Communication throughout, the pictures don't do the home or the atmosphere of the home justice.
A weekend just wasn't enough time to enjoy everything.
We choose this particular home because it had a fire-pit outside (my son wanted to make smores) and it had wi-fi for me.
The indoor wood burning stove was a huge hit for us as well.
Everything was tastefully furnished - The decking was something else as well.
All in all we had a great stay. And I am not that easy to please :-)
