Marilyn's photos were great, but being there was even better. There is a skylight above the bed that displayed the Vermont moonlight two of the three nights we were there. She made amazing pancakes with homegrown blueberries and she and her husband were hospitable and kind. They are just minutes from the town of Wilmington or to Mount Snow. We look forward to going back again : )
Mickie was a fantastic host and my parents had a great stay at her home. They really enjoyed their room and the breakfast she cooked for them, and also loved the little house on the property that houses her seven chickens! :)
I'll start with the basics so I can save the best for last...yes Marilyn's description was perfectly accurate and we were 100% percent satisfied with our stay in her lovingly furnished house and exquisitely comfortable accommodations replete with a view over of the surrounding countryside from our private suite. Not only was Marilyn waiting on the porch to expectantly greet us upon arrival, not only did she show us to a room with a plush queen bed and private bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and moviestar bathroom mirror, not only did she share with us how to make a living in the oh so bucolic Wilmington, VT, not only did she give us a lesson on farming and not only because she prepared a splendid Sunday brunch before we got back on the road but she even sent us home with fresh eggs from here very own flock of hens! Simply put could not have had a better stay even if Marilyn was family :)
My son and I really enjoyed our stay at Marilyn and Larry's place. Their home is warm, and resonates with that iconic VT vibe we love so much. The east guest room had an annexed extra little room for my son to sleep in which was very, very cozy. The big bathtub was great after a hard day of riding, and there were lots of towels which I really appreciated. The location was pretty close to both Mount Snow and the town of Wilmington where there are lots of great shops and restaurants. Our hosts were very gracious and warm, and we loved our delicious blueberry pancakes and bacon in the mornings. I'm sure we'll crash there again the next time we're in the Mount Snow area.
We had a wonderful time at Marilyn and Larry's house in Vermont! Their home has a cozy, rustic feel and is perfectly located if you're looking to ski at Mount Snow. The town of Wilmington has several restaurants and lovely little shops, which we enjoyed exploring. We were very impressed with Mount Snow as well- it had many trails for all levels of skiiers and was nicer than a lot of other ski mountains I've been to (better restaurants on site, cleaner facilities etc). Our hosts were very welcoming and hospitable during our entire stay. Marilyn cooked us two absolutely delicious breakfasts- including omelets made from the chickens she has in the backyard! She is a wonderful cook and even owned a restaurant at one point. We hope to return the next time we go skiing at Mount Snow! Thanks Mickie and Larry!
Wonderful hosts and a great place to stay to explore the area. Highly recommendable!
