Séjour agréable dans une très jolie villa, quartier tranquille. C'est un bon endroit où séjourner si vous voulez visiter Antigua!
This was my first airnb experience and I was so lucky that it was Dido who was my first hostess. The blank rough colonial style facade belies a warm home inside surround a lush green garden. My room was basic but clean and cosy (it actually was cozy, and not claustrophobic). French doors opened to the courtyard allowing the fresh air to flood in.
There is a basic kitchen set up in the far corner of the courtyard with a hot plate, fridge and coffee maker along with a collection of utensils. Wonderful to have a choice of eating out or staying in. Dido and her Mom and their staff went out of their way to mak me welcome. Even though I was travelling alone, I didn't feel I was on my own.
Thank you Dido for making my visit to Antigua special.
One tip I would share with airnbers, Next I would take a room on the side away from the road. It wasn't bad since the road is a quiet one but if you are sensitive to noise the other side would be better.
It was a nice quiet room in a traditional casa on the edge of town. Just what I needed for my week of meetings in Antigua.
Dido's BNB is lovely, with clean, large rooms, vaulted ceilings, and a quiet courtyard to rest in after a busy day touring Antigua. I stayed with Dido for four nights, in January, 2014. It was the perfect introduction to Guatemala.
There is a lovely view of the volcano, from the main courtyard. The rooms are laid out and decorated in traditional Spanish colonial style, and the bed is comfortable and cozy, on chilly winter nights.
Access to the outdoor kitchen in the courtyard made making meals easy and less expensive than eating out. There is a stove, fridge, and sink for washing up. It is located within several blocks of the main square, a large supermarket, and other facilities.
Tuktuks are plentiful and cheap at about 10 QT per person, per ride, if you have difficulty negotiating the cobblestone streets and uneven sidewalks.
Dido was helpful with information, directions, and ensuring my stay was comfortable. She also has a great wifi connection, for communicating with friends and family.
Practically everywhere in Antigua, because of the cobblestone streets, I would recommend bringing ear plugs to block out the traffic noise at night.
I would also recommend bringing a flashlight, if you plan to be out of your room when it is dark, as the lighting throughout Antigua is sparse, to avoid tripping on uneven sidewalks and roads.
All in all, a wonderful four days and nights in Antigua, at Dido's BNB!
Loved our stay at Dido's Casa. It by far the best on offer at this price range. We visited many double rooms and none even compared. Dido's Casa is a beautiful and peaceful setting, the rooms are clean and warm, Dido is like a personal concierge - giving you great tips around the city and the location - away from the heart of town - was perfect. We easily walked to the heart of town for all our meals but loved the strolls and discovered some Gem's near Dido's Casa.
I can't wait to come back and stay with Dido, it's perfect.
I totally enjoyed my time with Dido and her family. My room was very good, and the ambience of the casa, excellent. The family and staff were very welcoming and accomodating throughout my stay.
I am definitely making it my 'home away from home' for when I visit Antigua again.
Muchas muchas gracias!!!
Beautiful old house in Antigua. The rooms are furnished with interesting antiques and there is a lovely internal courtyard garden. The kitchen is basic but ok for making simple food. We mainly had salads and with the abundance of fresh fruit and veg available in the markets and loads of good bakeries it was fine, but only has a cook top.
Dido, her mum and the rest of the family were lovely and very helpful. It is in a nice part of antigua and I always felt safe walking around. We enjoyed the stay and especially enjoyed meeting the family. getting to stay in a real home instead of a hotel was lovely.
