About This Listing
Nice room in private flat, located at quiet area of Riga. Experiance staying in real local home to see how people live in Latvia.
I believe that traveling is not only for seeing places, but also for experiencing local culture by meeting local people. Therefore I am happy to offer guest room + breakfast in my apartment to people who share the same opinion, so we can meet each other and have good time together.
The room I offer is my mom's room in my apartment - during summer months she moves to our country house, so the room is unoccupied although there are her personal belongings in it.
I live in the same apartment together with my son (born October 2008) and nice, black cat called Smeagul.
The place is situated approx. 7km from city center and is very well connected with center by public transport. WiFi available.
You can see the references about the place in my other listing - it is just another room in the same flat.
Guests will have access to kitchen and all other places in the flat, exept my and other guests rooms.
Interaction with Guests
I work full time, but I also really love to interact with my guests. So, it actually depends on guest - if you are at home in evening, I would love to drink a tea and chat with you. However it might happen, that I have to be away late and we do not have chance to do that.
It is nice and quiet district. There are forest nearby - good for running. Also there are small food shop nearbu and lovely wine drinking place.
Trolleybus and autobus stop is very near (3-5min). It operates regullary (every 7min in peak time, up to 20min in evenings and weekends).
It was great. Laura give us all the informations we need for her place and what we could see on Riga. Thanks to her. She was so nice with us.
I had a very nice week staying with Laura and her other guest in Riga. It was very peaceful in the neighbourhood and the forrest area was perfect for exercise. It was quiet at the house and a nice place to spend a restful week. Laura was very helpful with directions to get around the city. Laura was well organised with her arrival instructions and she is a very generous person. Thank you very much!
The place is good for the price and Laura is wonderful. It is very easy to get into the city taking buses from just outside her apartment. Laura gives plenty of privacy and will give you good tips on the city. We had to leave a day earlier and didn't get to say goodbye but Laura was very nice and friendly and would recommend her to everyone.
Laura is a bright, witty and interresting hostess who speaks English extremely well. Her apartment is in a newer building and is well appointed. The breakfasts are of the healthy European style. Laura is well traveled and can make suggestions for your activities in Riga. Riga's downtown area is accessible by convenient public transportation and there are restaurants, food markets and shopping of all kinds in this both modern and traditional city.
I didn't have the chance to meet Laura as she was on holidays too. However her mum was really sweet and kind to host me and make sure everything was ok... well a bit difficult for the communication as I don't speak a word of Latvian ;-) The flat is really nice, cleaned and easily reachable from the city centre. cheap and chic ;-)
I definitely recommend Laura's place!!!
I would highly recommend Laura's home stay. She has a lot of experience both as a host and as a traveller so she's perfect. Nothing's too much trouble yet she also gives you space.
Her home is a straight bus ride from Riga. It was great to have a glimpse of how the locals live - I enjoyed the drive to pick up her son from childcare, to buy petrol and the visit to the local shopping mall!
The bedroom was fine - it had a comfortable bed with a good reading light, there was a table and chair and a balcony. Laura provided too much food for breakfast during my two nights' stay but I enjoyed the wild blueberries and the home grown tomato and cucumber.
Smeggles the cat enjoyed my company!
All the best, Jacqui (August 2013)
