Guest Access

There is a communal garden, which is gated, and can be accessed by our guests.

Interaction with Guests

Ann will meet people when they arrive, and show them around the apartment. We live a few doors down from the apartment and we also work on Mountjoy Square, where we have offices - so we are available most of the time. If people are staying for more than 3 days, we pop in to say hello and Ann usually tries to meet guests as they leave to make sure everything has gone well and learn any lessons to improve the experience for future guests.

The Neighborhood

Mountjoy Square is in the heart of the North Georgian Core of Dublin City. It comprises a beautiful square of Georgian Houses set around a park in which there is a great children's playground.
We are within walking distance of the Gate and Abbey Theatre (our national theatre), the Dublin Writers Museum, the Joyce Centre and a host of other attractions. The Hugh Lane Art Gallery (Dublin's municipal gallery) is a 5 minute walk away. This part of Dublin is steeped in history, and features in Joyce's Ulysses. The first Dail (Irish Parliament) after liberation met in no 3 Mountjoy Square and every building has a unique history. The Mountjoy Square Society (of which we are members) regularly organise guided tours of the square and we run events for Open House and Culture Night (in September every year).
The Chinese quarter is in Parnell Street (a couple of minutes away on foot) with lots of up and coming chinese and vietnamese restaurants. This area is vibrant and wonderful and our visitors really enjoy staying here.

Getting around

You can get around Dublin, which is a very small city, on foot; You can also do a bus tour of Dublin starting in Cathal Brugha Street, three minutes walk away from our apartment.

Other Things to Note

We have a great local italian restaurant in a quiet location and guests often like to eat there on the first night of their arrival, if they are tired. Croke Park , the home of Gaelic Football and Hurling, is just round the corner and boasts a great museum. Our botanic gardens, Dublin Zoo (in the Phoenix Park) are a short bus ride away and the fascinating and little known Glasnevin Cemetary, where many of our historical national heroes are buried, is a short bus ride away - and it has a fantastic museum and geneology section.

  • Ann met us on a lovely sunny morning (accommodating our early check in) she gave us some practical/comprehensive advise and left us to our own devices.

Apartment was exactly as expected clean, bright and close enough to the action of Temple Bar without being in the hustle and bustle all the time.

Also should you want to cook lots of basics oil, salt etc

As the Irish say 'Thanks a million'

  • Ours hosts were very helpful and easy to deal with. The flat was good. We forgot to check if it had a washing machine which it doesn't so we had to go to a coin laundromat which was about a 10 minute walk away. Not a huge problem but something further occupants should be made aware of. The north side of Dublin is a cheaper alternative but we all were a bit shocked at the uncleanliness of the streets.

  • Ann was an extremely welcoming host. The flat was perfect for our stay, it was clean, had more than enough space for the two of us and was only a 10 minute walk to the centre. I would definitely recommend staying here.

  • We had a great stay at Ann and Bernadette's place in Dublin. Their apartment is beautifully furnished, comfortable, and not too far a walk into the centre of town. Thanks for having us!

  • We had a great time at Ann's!
The place is well located and it is very comfortable! Ann is a great host! She welcomed us and gave us great tips for our first hours in Dublin and also helped us with things we needed for the rest of our trip! If we go back to Dublin we definitely will be back at Ann's!

  • It was very easy to communicate with Ann, and all went smoothly. She was very friendly and provided us all baby-stuff we needed, thanks for that! The apartment is okay: clean, big enough for 3 people, and everything works well. But it has actually quite bad aircondition (this is a thing that Finnish people appreciate, probably the air is as humid in all Irish apartments?), as when I washed some of my baby's clothes, it took two days to get them dry in the apartment. Location is quite nice: no restaurants, cafe's and bars in the same block, but plenty of them very near. And I can recommend this especially for families, as the park close-by is very nice for children! We would have hoped a bit more flexible check-out time, but this time it was not possible, that's understandable. All in all: nice stay in a nice location, no big things to complain!

  • Ann and Bernadette are good and VERY helpful hosts. Ann did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. I will definitely stay here next time I am in Dublin.

  • We had a pleasant few days at Ann's apartment, which was within easy walk of major sights. We met Ann at entry and she was helpful and friendly. The beds and sofa were comfy and we appreciated the coffee, eggs and milk that Ann had ready for us. All in all, a successful stay. The only flaw was the wi-fi: we came with 4 computers and some work to be done online and then Ann told us that we should limit our internet usage and could not do streaming. I wish this had been told to us beforehand, as it was a considerable hindrance to our work and entertainment plans.

We know Dublin very well and like to share our beautiful city with with visitors. We love opera, choral music, and Irish folk music too. And we are passionate about Georgian Architecture and in particular about Mountjoy Square, Dublin's finest Georgian Square and the only absolutely square square in Europe!! This is why we restored this amazing apartment to its original splendour. We live here ourselves during the winter time, but in the Summer we like to move to our country home so our apartment is free to be enjoyed by the air bnb community. We look forward to welcoming you to this very special home.
