Bright and comfortable studio flat in the middle of the festival city Edinburgh! Double sized bunk beds mean you can actually sleep two couples, or a family of four, provided you don't mind getting a little cosy.
The space catches the morning sun making it the perfect place to start that long day of site seeing. The cosy built-in settee and bright window seating areas are perfect for flaking out after that long day traipsing about Edinburgh's many sites. The double wooden bunk beds are of solid construction and offer firm mattresses, perfect for recuperating so you can do it all again the next day ... ;)
Full access to the entire flat with the exception of one cupboard and the postbox.
Interaction with Guests
Unfortunately I won't be able to meet you and show you around. :(
The flat is right in the centre of the Edinburgh - a stones throw from everything this 'world heritage site' city and festival mecca has to offer.
The main train station of Edinburgh and the bus from/to the airport are a few minutes walk from the flat.
Other Things to Note
Unfortunately as I'm not about I won't be able to provide much for breakfast but the City Cafe across the road opens early and Nero around the corner has great fresh croissants. Also a few guests have commented on the noise from the busy street below - sealing the catches and closing the vents on the double glazed windows helps a lot and I've noticed guests rarely do this ...
No smoking - sorry.
Unfortunately AirBnB's weekly and monthly prices don't lend themselves to seasonal price variations so I can't use them. Instead I offer a 10% discount for 7-13 night bookings and a 20% discount for 14 and more.
Despite not meeting AJ (he works away so his friend Blair handed over the keys - simple transaction), he was incredibly responsive by e-mail and very helpful. The studio apartment couldn't have been better located - just off the middle of the Royal Mile so equally placed between Old and New Towns. AJ gave us the option of having both beds made up - 2 double beds in the style of a bunk - which were exceptionally comfortable and provided ample room for the 3 of us and could've accommodated another.
Although not a problem, think it's worth pointing out that the rest of the building/corridors are a little dated so don't match the modern interior of the apartment so could be a bit of a shock if you're not sure what to expect...
Streets below are little noisy being the centre of Edinburgh's weekend nightlife (Cabaret Voltaire / City Cafe are on the same street) but didn't affect our sleep (we're night owls). Everywhere closes at 3am in Edinburgh, so it's not all night anyway.
All in all, a well equipped pleasant apartment to stay in & couldn't ask for a better location.
AJ was highly responsive and easy to contact during the entire period. The apartment was centrally located, making it very easy to get to all the different attractions in Edinburgh. The apartment could benefit from being less dusty, warmer (esp in winter) and having more clean towels. AJ was very concerned about our stay the whole time and offered for us to get another heater which he would reimburse - a very kind gesture.
The flat is central, clean, and well organise for a week and stay. We where for people staying, there is enought space.
To get the key was really easy , and AJ was helpfull.
My remark : We had only one small electrical heater. It was cold during the week and the appartment as well. This is a minimum service to feel confortable in the appartment !
No oven or mircorwage/grill.
We loved our stay in Edinburgh and A J's apartment. Such a nice and cosy studio, we didn't want to leave. It was perfectly fine for a weekend away. Also the location can't be better.
Very welcome on arrival.
A clean and functional apartment, located in the center of the city. Everything is within walking distance.
Beds are very confortable
AJ is available for any questions.
The location of the flat is perfect - close to all the tourist attractions & shopping district. Tons of restaurants, cafes & pubs can be found in the area. Everything is within walking distant!
The exterior of the flat may seem a bit dodgy but inside the flat, it was really cosy, clean and had everything we needed. It's comfortable enough for the 4 of us. However, It can get really noisy during the wee hours of night due to the bars/clubs below the flat.
Although we didn't get the chance to meet AJ, he's been very helpful and has provided us with a lot of information and making sure that he accommodates to our needs. His friend, Blair was really friendly & welcoming and he gave us lots of suggestions of things to do in Edinburgh!
Overall, we had a really pleasant stay.
Good flat, very central to the Royal Mile. The apartment was clean, with all the necessities. Noisy at night due to the bar down the street, but nothing a pair of earplugs couldn't cure.
First time on AirBnB so not really sure what to say ... From Denmark, travel a lot, lived in Edinburgh until now but looking to settle in Dubai for a bit and travel less. :)
