Michael was a fantastic host. His son, Michael Junior was always ready to help me and my daughter to bring our suitcases to the third floor of the building. Also, when my daughter's friend suddenly decided to visit her from out of town, Michael was very accomodating
The apartment is great - large, full of light and character. The extra heater warms up the place on the cold nights.
The location could not be better - A and C trains within 10 and 6 minute walk. The neighborhood is lovely. We felt welcome and safe.
I encourage Michael to make the few small changes that Sandra, the reviewer of the apartment in November 2014 suggested. Also, I wish I would have known that the two bedrooms do not have doors, since my adult daughter and I each wanted privacy, discovering that bedrooms do not have doors was a bit of surprise.
Michael and his familiy are fantastic hosts, he had a plenty of tips for eating and shopping. The place is nicely furnished and equipped. We felt very welcome. Highly recommended.
Michael was an awesome host and we highly recommend him. We booked at the last min literally and Michael was very accommodating and welcoming. The apt is in a good neighborhood and a block away from the subway. The bed was really comfy and the comforter warm and cozy. Michael also has plenty of reading material to enjoy. We couldn't have asked for a better host or place to stay.
We (couple) stayed here 7 nights. The apartment is very close to the subway station (Utica) and convenient for JFK and Manhattan which is only 20 minutes away. The area is very nice, with beautiful houses and a couple of nice cafés. We especially liked the Brunswick around the corner and Peaches on Lewis. Michael greeted us warmly and showed us to the apartment, which is located on the top floor of a typical Brooklyn brownhouse. The flat itself is very nice and well appointed. It was very cold outside and we appreciated the portable heater near the bed. There was ample storage space and it was very clean. The wooden floor is beautiful and there is a nice street view from the living room - you can even see the top of the Empire State building. The kitchen is well equipped, with a large fridge and stove, and the bathroom always had hot water. The WIFI worked well. I first had some reservations booking in this neighborhood after someone here sarcastically reviewed it as "in transition", but after spending a week here I can really say this is a very nice part of Brooklyn, with friendly people and a very diverse atmosphere. If you are not open minded maybe you should not travel at all! I would not hesitate to recommend this place and would gladly come back!
The apartment was beautifully decorated and had a homey feel. Master bed was very comfortable to sleep in. There is conveniently a 24-hour corner store downstairs. Parking was easy for the weekend and its walking distance to the Kingston subway stop.

I own several brownstones in Bedford Stuyvesant I love restoring these rare and beautiful works of art. My family and I live in the property. I Love Bedford-Stuyvesant for the many brownstones (each one unique in its own way) and the diverse community of people, but don't just take my word for it, come and see for yourself... you will be happy you did.
