A great option for 1 or 2 people staying in Perugia. It deserves full marks and seemed really good value. It was very clean; good wi-fi. It felt like a comfortable hotel room but with the convenience of having a small kitchen. Alessandro is a very good host. It's in a nice part of Perugia in a quiet back street. It's close to the centre and there are decent restaurants, bars, shops nearby.
I stayed In Alessandro's studio apartment for a week, and it was an excellent way to spend time in Perugia! If you are planning on finding a hostel in the area, stay here instead. The weekly rate is more affordable, and it will give you precious time to yourself, something you don't think about until you've been sharing space for weeks. Its located in an artsy neighborhood of the old city, only five minutes walk from the main corso. The building is very secure, and there are a number of great restaurants within earshot of the window. The room is a great size for one person, with its own small kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals (the grocery store is five mins walk away). Alessandro and his brother picked me up from the train station, and drove me back there when I left, which was very convenient. He had also stocked the fridge with some 'welcoming' snacks, so I did not have to run out immediately for food. There was also soap, etc. for the kitchen and bathroom. Very thoughtful! The wifi is pretty reliable. I was able to (website hidden) with only the occasional glitch. It was perhaps the best wifi I experienced in Europe, and a hundred times better than any in the hostels. It was also nice to have cable TV while I was there. A number of channels were broadcast in English- something I had been craving for weeks at that point. The pull out bed is a pull out. Theres not much one can do about that, but it was comfortable enough, and I slept well there.
All in all, it was a very nice way to spend time in one of the less touristy areas of Italy. If you are traveling on a budget and looking to feel like a resident of small city Italy for a time, give Alessandro's apartment a try!
