About This Listing
Loft full, magnificent view of the Bay of All Saints. Here you watch one of the most beautiful sunset of the city lying in a hammock. Ideal for a single traveler or couple wanting to live the local reality.
I'm living in São Paulo but I have this little studio in Salvador, Bahia, where I have lived for 18 years. It's a small loft ideal for a sinale or a couple, located in Dois de Julho, the central district in Salvador, 5 minutes walking to MAM (Bahia Modern Museum of Art) - you can swin at the small beach within the Park of Sculptures beside the Bahia Marina. Every Saturday at sunset has a jam session with local jazz bands, very good sound. You also can go to Pelourinho, 15 minutes walking - historic center night life, concerts and restaurants and either 15 minutes by bus / taxi to Porto da Barra, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - calm seas, warm and transparent.
This loft consists of a mezzanine with double futon bed and fan (no air conditioner), bathroom, small kitchen to prepare breakfast and quick meals and veranda with an amazing view of the sea and the Bay of All Sants. Place is lush and sunny. The sunset takes place around 18 hours right in front, on our porch. A beautiful image that you can enjoy lying in a hammock. The location is ideal for a person or couple, travelers wanting a real sense of the city life.
Dois de Julho is an old and historic neighborhood, characterized by narrow streets, paved with old fashioned paving stones, baroque architecture mixed with modern architecture, dogs and children playing in front of their houses. You can walk quietly up to the Largo (one block from home) and will find a sort of restaurants of homemade food (good and cheap), small markets, a pharmacy, fruit and vegetable stands and bakeries. There are public transport buses to almost all other neighborhoods and taxi ranks as well.
WE DON'T HAVE WI-FI.
THERE ARE LAN HOUSES AT THE CORNER OF OUR STREET.
1º Treat this house as your home and take care of everything. No smoking inside the house, especially the bedroom. Smoking is only permitted on the balcony.
2º Please turn off the lights, the TV and fans when you leave it anywhere.
3º The entry of strangers without previous authorization from the host, especially native is not allowed. This is a measure for the safety of the house, the other residents of the building and for your own safety.
Andrea made me feel very welcome. She emailed me lots of very helpful information about the area, where to eat, what to do, where to find internet and she had everything arranged well for me to collect the keys. If I had any queries during my stay she was most helpful. The gas ran out during my dinner cooking but the next day when the cleaner Pina came, Andrea arranged and translated everything for us via telephone so a new cylinder was purchased and dinner enjoyed the next night.
The place is definitely special and rustic. Air always flows through open windows. I enjoyed my stay . It is close to everything in the centre which suited me.
Kudos for cold beers waiting in the fridge.
Merci Andrea!
I have not had the chance to meet Andre physically but it was great to . Long before I arrived she communicated all the details and useful advice for our trip to El Salvador. The apartment and charming for those seeking a quiet place for rest, he does not possess the modern comforts but is perfect for relaxing. The area may seem a bit worrying if you arrive at night. But someday you 'll realize that the street is full of life and welcoming people , and that life is much less expensive than in the rest of the city. A big thank you to Andrea . xoxo
If you are looking for the perfect place to use as a base to see Salvador this is the one! Nestled in the streets of the real Salvador this place is truly an oasis. It's open plan with a stunning view over the marina and the breeze keeps you cool on really hot days. Pat is a wonderful host and takes good care of you with advice and suggestions. It's clean and the design of the place offers real charm and character. If this sounds like your thing don't wait. Book now.
This place truly was was a treat on my trip to Brazil, and it was a wonderful place to relax and watch the sunset in the hammock after a long day of walking, beaches and tours. There were a few ants the first day but they disappeared by the second day. I didn't have much trouble with mosquitoes either.
Pelourinho is about 20 minutes by foot. What I liked about the location was that it truly was a Brazilian home in a Brazilian neighbourhood. There are VERY few tourists to be found in this area (I think i was the only one!) but that's what makes this apartment unique. You can be one of the locals!
The only thing that was a bit unsettling was the neighbourhood at night. During the day is fine to walk around, but at night you should always take a taxi because this part of town is a little bit more rough. Also remember that there is no Wifi in the apartment.
Overall this AirBnb was AWESOME, Pat was a very attentive host and I would Definitely DEFINITELY come here again.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, Jessica! Yes, unfortunately Salvador is not a very safe city at night, especially for tourists and single women. Very unfortunately! So I always recommend taxi at night. On the internet in this neighborhood the signal is not very good. I had internet and paid dearly for it but was always in trouble with bad sign and so I canceled. There are Internet cafes close by. Thank you for your comment rich in detail. Again you were a great guest and will always be welcome!
