About this listing
Loft full, magnificent view of the Bay of All Saints. Here you watch one of the most beautiful sunset of the city lying in a hammock. Ideal for a single traveler or couple wanting to live the local reality.
I'm living in São Paulo but I have this little studio in Salvador, Bahia, where I have lived for 18 years. It's a small loft ideal for a sinale or a couple, located in Dois de Julho, the central district in Salvador, 5 minutes walking to MAM (Bahia Modern Museum of Art) - you can swin at the small beach within the Park of Sculptures beside the Bahia Marina. Every Saturday at sunset has a jam session with local jazz bands, very good sound. You also can go to Pelourinho, 15 minutes walking - historic center night life, concerts and restaurants and either 15 minutes by bus / taxi to Porto da Barra, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - calm seas, warm and transparent.
This loft consists of a mezzanine with double futon bed and fan (no air conditioner), bathroom, small kitchen to prepare breakfast and quick meals and veranda with an amazing view of the sea and the Bay of All Sants. Place is lush and sunny. The sunset takes place around 18 hours right in front, on our porch. A beautiful image that you can enjoy lying in a hammock. The location is ideal for a person or couple, travelers wanting a real sense of the city life.
Dois de Julho is an old and historic neighborhood, characterized by narrow streets, paved with old fashioned paving stones, baroque architecture mixed with modern architecture, dogs and children playing in front of their houses. You can walk quietly up to the Largo (one block from home) and will find a sort of restaurants of homemade food (good and cheap), small markets, a pharmacy, fruit and vegetable stands and bakeries. There are public transport buses to almost all other neighborhoods and taxi ranks as well.
WE DON'T HAVE WI-FI.
THERE ARE LAN HOUSES AT THE CORNER OF OUR STREET.
1º Treat this house as your home and take care of everything. No smoking inside the house, especially the bedroom. Smoking is only permitted on the balcony.
2º Please turn off the lights, the TV and fans when you leave it anywhere.
3º The entry of strangers without previous authorization from the host, especially native is not allowed. This is a measure for the safety of the house, the other residents of the building and for your own safety.
Everything perfect! nice not touristic area! charming it really is! =)
Unfortunately andréa was not here for welcoming us, but she did everything to assure that we find the flat. The flat was like the descritpion, 10 minutes walks to the historic center of salvador.
The neighborhood was popular and very lively. Each output was exotic and people in our street were very helpful. You have everything concerning the transport and food just at end of the street.
I recommand this flat for every visitors who really want understand how salvador look like.
We stayed in Pats apartment for 3 nights and loved it! The neighbourhood is great, it had everything we needed and the people are lovely too.
We didn't meet Pat in person but were in regular contact with her through email... She gave us lots of helpful advice and included detailed maps and website information. Instead, we got the keys from her friend Antonio who lives a few blocks away. He also has two gorgeous turtles who live in the garden at the bottom of the loft and he dropped by to feed them during our stay.
We had read some reviews complaining about the mosquitoes in the loft but we had no problem with them. Pat left a spray and incense and also there is a brand new mosquito net over the bed (which is really comfy!). We bought mosquito coils to burn too, which did the trick.
The loft is exactly as it looks in the photos, the bathroom is beautifully decorated and the view is really nice. Definately recommend for a short stay in Salvador! Muito obrigado Pat!! :)
Andrea made me feel very welcome. She emailed me lots of very helpful information about the area, where to eat, what to do, where to find internet and she had everything arranged well for me to collect the keys. If I had any queries during my stay she was most helpful. The gas ran out during my dinner cooking but the next day when the cleaner Pina came, Andrea arranged and translated everything for us via telephone so a new cylinder was purchased and dinner enjoyed the next night.
The place is definitely special and rustic. Air always flows through open windows. I enjoyed my stay . It is close to everything in the centre which suited me.
Kudos for cold beers waiting in the fridge.
