Interaction with Guests

We're usually around, available and more than willing to help you with your arrival / luggage and any suggestions / recommendations regarding what to do and where to go during your stay. We also go out of town on occasion and are willing to work through times when we're away and you're staying with us.

The Neighborhood

We are conveniently located in the heart of Chelsea on 8th ave and W 21 st we have easy access to all the great local Chelsea, West Village, Meatpacking District and Flatiron bars and restaurants. NYC Subway lines are all withing A,C,E,F,1,2,L, and path trains. You can get pretty much anywhere you want to be within Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens within 30 minutes or less. Plus the immediate neighborhood is gorgeous and is the way to experience NYC. Our actual apt is super quiet. We are on the 5th floor of a walk-up and tucked in the back of the building so we don't hear much up here. Which is nice after you've been out in a NYC day. We have a ton of good restaurants close by, with just about any cuisine you could want. There are also several coffee shops and grocery stores near by, we have a very cool local bar that we like to go to and if you have time will be more than happy to take you to for a pint and a chat ;) within a couple / few blocks - The Highline, Meat Packing district, Chelsea Market, Chelsea Piers, Hudson River park, which is great for an evening stroll. We are about a 5-10 minute walk to the West Village which is exceptional people watching! For those that enjoy cooking I have a pretty well stocked pantry, with lots of spices and condiments that you are welcome to use.

Getting around

Very convenient, central access to all regional transportation, Citibike, the NYC subway lines A,C,E,F,1,2,L, and NJ path trains. You can get pretty much anywhere you want to be within Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens within 30 minutes or less.

--Is there parking? --There is free street parking on both sides of the street, although it can get fairly competitive around here (like anywhere in NYC). There are several parking garages nearby that charge a fee as well.

--What's the best way to get to your place from _____?? --There is a wonderful site called HopStop. You can enter any two addresses and it will tell you exactly which trains to navigate to get you here.

  • Neat little room in a great (central) location in New York. Everything was fine.

    July 2014
  • This was my first time using Airbnb, and Dee and Josh gave me everything I needed. They were both warm and welcoming, and Dee was very good about checking in the day before (and day of) and providing me very clear instructions on how to get the keys since I got in while she was at work.

The apartment itself was great! Comfortable bed, private room, and a great location in Chelsea. Would definitely stay with them again in the future!

  • This is a great place if all you want is a comfortable and clean place to lay your head. Dee made sure that everything was provided and was a prompt and friendly communicator. The room is nice and the location very convenient. A great base from which to explore NYC.

  • Very cozy, quiet and tidy place in an excellent location easy to reach by subway or even on foot are within easy reach if you don't mind walking up a few steps.
I actually only met Dee once I arrived, spent a lot of time downtown and left and went to bed rather early due to walking too much and needing to rest my feet. Dee's very kind, helped with advice wherever she could and invited me to use all the equipment in the flat.

    Excellent stay, highly recommended!!

  • As stated, small, cozy. AND very clean! This room was just what I needed for my short overnight visit. I lived in the neighborhood 45 years ago. Major changes. Active, young. Transportation access has always been excellent.

  • I stayed at Dee for one week! The place was clean and fine - only an elevator was missing! Location was very good to explore the apple! Would stay there again!

  • Petit appartement bien situe dans le quartier de Chelsea, chambre propre et tres calme, tres appreciable après une journee de balade dans New York , gardez un peu de force pour monter les 5 etages .

    June 2014
  • Dee was lovely! She kindly brought my luggage all the way up the 5 flights! And, really helped me get off to a good start to my NYC visit by sharing ideas of what I could do about town. I felt very welcomed and comfortable with her & Josh. They have a flexible and relaxed vibe about everything. The room was bright and comfortable. The apartment is super-cozy so there's not a lot of room to spread out, but that's the authentic NYC experience and you'll probably be out and about most of the time anyway. Dee was a great communicator and very responsive via email, so that made arranging logistics and asking questions easy-breezy.

  • This was my first time in New York as well as my first time using Airbnb and I'm happy with the outcome. Dee and Josh are very relaxed and friendly and I felt very comfortable at their home for my four nights. The room was sufficient for my needs and the bed was comfortable. The area (Chelsea) is really nice. Less than 10 minutes walk to Chelsea Market and the High Line - perfect! Around the corner you can find good restaurants and bakeries. Be aware that if you have heavy suitcases it can be tricky getting them up the stairway.
All in all I'm very pleased with my stay. :)
