Walk/bike midtown: just blocks from lively restaurants, wine bars, brew pubs, art galleries, and coffee houses. Your accommodations include a comfy king size bed in a charming bungalow in the "City of Trees." Set on a lovely tree lined street, the bungalow overlooks the greenbelt and is located in historic Boulevard Park amongst Victorian and craftsman style homes.

The home's living room features large windows with great views of the neighborhood offering a respite from the hustle and bustle. Relax on the sofa, sip a glass of wine, and gaze out on the lush foliage and passerby's.

This room is approximately 12'x12'. It connects to a shared Jack-n-Jill bathroom. Also available, is a locked shed for your bike.

Within a few blocks you will find Old Soul Coffee house, a yoga studio, and delicious eateries (farm-to-table fare, Thai, Spanish, Mediterranean, Japanese, Mexican, Italian). Live music venues such as Old Ironsides, Harlow's, Torch Club, Fox N Goose, and Marilyn's are also nearby. I'd be happy to share more once I learn what you're seeking during your stay.

If your passion is biking, this location is perfect as the American River bike trail access is just a few blocks away. It's a smooth trail with plenty of squirrels and rabbits; some cranes and turkeys; and the occasional deer, coyote, and rattle snake.

Most likely, after the ride, you'll be ready (email hidden) and a hardy meal. I'll be glad to direct you to the perfect spot to fill the void.

Back at the bungalow you'll find interesting passerby's when sitting on the front porch steps. Meet neighbors, read, or play with house resident/pet. The kitchen and washer/dryer are available for your use if needed.

My home is in walking distance to the State Capitol, Old Sacramento, farmers markets, Governor's mansion, museums, and jogging parks. Nearby is the bus stop for travel to downtown, Old Sac, and CSUS.

Fruit, coffee and Nature's Plus flax-seed cereal on site (non-fat milk). Free street parking.

Good news during summer: McKinley Park public pool has adult lap swim hours.

Television-free home.

Guest Access

kitchen, washer/dryer, shed to store their bike.

Interaction with Guests

Minimal to social depending on availability.

The Neighborhood

The trees are one of the most appealing things about living in midtown.

Getting around

Public transportation is across the street! :) However, this is a friendly pedestrian and walking community.

Other Things to Note

Neighbors are great. They all look out for one another and are quite friendly.

  • Monica is an amazing hostess! She and Goldie made my fiance and I feel right at home. They totally made our stay in Sacramento even more enjoyable! Not only did Monica help us get around Sacramento with directions and recommendations, she was also very easy to talk with and a joy to get to know. The room accommodations were cozy and comfortable. The bathroom and linens were perfect, clean and fresh. Her home is lovely and historic and she has been wonderful to get to know. I highly recommend that anyone heading to Sacramento on Airbnb have the wonderful experience of staying at Monica's!

  • Monica is a delight! My husband and I had the pleasure of staying with Monica (and Goldie) while we visited Sacramento. We had a wonderful time chatting and exchanging stories as well as learning about the Sacramento area. Monica is the ideal hostess as she makes you feel like family. She is aware of your needs and respects your privacy. Her home is located in the most beautiful section of town and has easy access to most anything.

  • Monica is just fantastic. Super nice, incredibly helpful and sweet. Her home is amazing and the neighborhood makes me want to move from San Francisco, which is saying a lot. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • Monica is a brilliant host! Monica has endless local knowledge from her deep family roots in the area which she happily shared with us. She consistently went the extra mile to ensure that we had a great time, treating like family. For instance, she saved us money by picking us up at the airport for a cheap rate in the evening when bus service was poor but proceeded to give us a brief overall as we drove and even took some detours. She even joined us for a glass of wine and conversation at a local cafe

Midtown is the perfect base for exploring the city as it is highly walkable, safe, beautiful and offers plenty of variety in eating and dining establishments. The room was spacious, clean, organized, and well appointed. This is an excellent option for staying in Sacramento!

About
I'm the tall smart pretty one. The one to the right is the very talented Chuck Prophet of the Chuck Prophet & the Mission Express. You will find I can be quite social, but I do value my solitude. I will try to be available as time allows if you like. -Native of Sacramento -Sac State graduate (B.A. in English) -Works for the Air Resources Board My contributions include mentoring, adopting a rescue dog, and community activism. I also enjoy music of many genres; foreign & independent films; the theater; walking my dog; riding the bike on the American River trail; hiking, reading, traveling especially to the beach; and listening to Science Friday and Fresh Air with Terry Gross. Some of my favorite destination spots include: Central Park/Manhattan; Lake Constance on the Bodensee; Waldbad, Anif; Salzburg; Boll, Croatia; Oaxaca, Mexico; the Big Island, Hawaii; Tobago, and Marin County. There are still so many places I'd like to venture to, such as Vietnam, Thailand, Norway, Ireland, Bahamas, and of course take in more of California and embark on several road trips across the U.S. We'll see how it goes. When hosting, I share information with guests about my home town and the surrounding areas. You can be sure of having a comfortable stay in a cozy home with clean quarters. I offer nothing less than what I appreciate when traveling.
