Mitch was very responsive to our communications in planning this trip. He helped us to find his home so that we could get there without any problems. We were a bit disappointed with the accommodations, despite the welcoming common space in the home. The bathrooms were not clean and they did not have toilet paper for most of our stay. We were provided with clean linens, but other than that, it was not as clean as we had hoped. We were also very frustrated because on our last day there, Mitch asked us to vacate the room by 8-8:30am so that he could clean the linens for the next people staying. We obliged despite the fact that we really wanted to sleep in. He graciously said that we could use the common area as long as we liked so we set our alarm for 8 am and cleaned out our room. By 10am, Mitch had still not come by to take the linens and we were really frustrated that we were asked to vacate the room for nothing. All in all, Mitch was kind, but for the money that we spent, we felt like it would be helpful for the host to keep the areas cleaner and well supplied and not ask guests to vacate so early.
Sharon and Mitch a great hosts! Mitch provided us with fresh yummy bananas and pak choi and is such a nice guy, always relaxed and in a good mood! The room was really nice and the kitchen is huge and has eveything you need. For breakfast, you can sit on the large balkony surrounding the house and drink your coffee looking at the beautiful canyon. This place is superb!
Sharon and Mitch were great! They met me at the house and Sharon showed me around. On the second day I had a great time hanging out with them talking about living in Kauai. And they gave me some great recommendations on places to check out and restaurants to eat at. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom clean and the living area was large with an amazing screened in porch with a hammock. Great stay!
Sharon, Mitch and David are greats hosts. We had a wonderful time during our stay in Waimea. We greatly appreciate the comfortable setting after a long day of adventuring. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and give us some of the best advice about what to see and do while on the island. We enjoyed meeting you all and hope to see you in the near future. ! Mahalo :)
Sharon and Mitch are wonderful and their house is lovely. Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip to Kauai. Awesome vibe at the house in a cool relaxed neighborhood. Would love to come back for sure. Dogs are super nice.
Note however--not super easy to find at night, make sure you plan ahead and get good directions. Not a big deal though.
Sharon and Mitch were very welcoming and helpful. The neighborhood was interesting and beautiful to take an early morning walk or run through. All was as described with much aloha.
My husband and I really enjoyed staying at Sharon and Mitch's place. It was a low key place to crash close to great hiking in Waimea Canyon. The sheets were very soft and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. We enjoyed the friendly pets wandering around outdoors and even though we came in kind of late the first night, we were greeted by Mitch and David and we ended up having a ukelele/guitar jam session to close out the night :) We would go back, and probably stay longer next time!

I have put a room in my house in airbnb and here is what I like of my guests. I am also this kind of guest.
I like a guest that wants to explore on their own. If time allows I like to hike with you. Frequently I am very busy so it is important that guests are independent and want to go and explore on their own.
A guest at my house will be self directed. I have a full time career and will not be able to show you around. However I am very social and look forward to meeting you.
Staying here will be similar to staying at a hostel in that you are self directed, make your own plans, do your own thing and clean up after yourself. The only exception is that the accommodations are nicer. My house is clean but, I do work full time so I keep my prices low and my rooms livable. If you like immaculate places where you are waited on, this is not the place for you.
