13. Welcome to The Lodge!
It was very easy to find The Lodge as we arrived at JFK. We used public transport. The interior of the apartment is the same as on the pictures. A lot of space, big kitchen, enough plates, glasses, and other kitchen items. Clean linen and towels. Wi fi works perfect! Aram is frendly and helpful host. Washing machine and dryer were available and that was wery important to me. Actualy we were spending our entire days on Manhattan (the approach is very easy) and at the Lodge we had everything we needed! I would reccomend staying at the Lodge to my friends!
This was our first time to NY and the accommodation was extremely disappointing and misleading: The apartment advertised as 2 bedrooms but it's actually 1 bedroom with the hallway between the kitchen and main bedroom converted into a small room with 2 bunk beds. You have no privacy in this room! The house is in a bad condition, with loose door knobs, damaged ceiling and missing cupboard doors. The wifi modem is located in the basement of another unit so no signal coming through, except in the living room. It's hardly usable. The bed linens and towels are very old and look dirty. The place is infested with mosquitoes and my kids were badly bitten. If you have kids be warned. The laundry is only available every 3rd day, and only after 3pm. Don't be tricked by the nice photos of the apartment which seem spacious and nice but in reality it's very old and small, and look nothing like the photos. The house has been sub divided into multiple units so it's very small. The apartment is 5 mins to Queensboro train station, and 20 mins to Times Sq, NOT 5 mins like it's advertised. Aram was quick to answer any questions I had, and he let us check in early. However we had to check out by 10am. I feel that we have been conned by the low standard provided of this place as it appears the owner only interested making money with this listing. I regret booking this place and the experience felt like we're were staying at a run down backpackers hostel. I would not recommend this place otherwise you'll regret it.
Please forgive us for our slightly late response.
We are very sorry to hear that The Lodge did not meet your expectations but since our property has been such a great experience for the bulk of our guests over the past two years ( see all our awesome reviews :) we wanted to take this chance to address each and every one of your comments.
The Lodge is indeed a two bedroom property ! An official airbnb photographer took the pictures posted. There is a bunkbed room and right behind it through another door is a master bedroom. This is called " railroad style" and is common in NYC. In the pictures you can see the master bedroom door if you look at the far wall of the bunkbed room.
If there was a loose door knob we are sorry for that, the reason the doors were taken off the closets is to make it easy for our lovely guests to fit their bulky luggage in their bedrooms! The slight discoloration on the kitchen ceiling was a very recent happening that is currently being addressed. As well, we stand by the clean and simple quality of our linens and towels
Wifi units are currently installed on each floor so pls enjoy our free wifi!
We have never had any complaints about mosquitos and we are sorry that your children were bit. There are secure screens on all the windows. If there is not a screen there are portable ones provided. We have a gorgeous yard and in NYC the mosquitos do come out at 4pm so perhaps you forgot to shut the screen door to the yard or did not install the portable screens?
Our laundry timetable is so flexible - you should have asked us! ( on our info page at The Lodge we indicate this).
As you can see in all the pictures of our property there are no stairs because it is indeed one floor.
Lastly, the N train is 1 single stop to 59th street and Lexington Avenue - our guests love being one stop to Manhattan!
Aram's apartment is spacious and comfortable. We felt right at home during our stay. The the location is perfect for easy access to Manhattan and Astoria. Aram is quick to respond and very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time at the Lodge over a long weekend. We spent a day in Queens, a day in Brooklyn, and a day in Manhattan, and they were all easy to get to from the location. The neighborhood felt safe, and the place was clean. We had 10 people in the apartment who slept comfortably on beds and air mattresses, though with some doubling up on the larger air mattress. We spent most of our time outside the apartment, but when the 10 of us were in the apartment, we managed all sit at the kitchen table using the couches and the chairs in the apartment.
Aram, the host, made everything very easy for us and was great with communication. I would recommend this place to anyone with a large party looking for a good deal on space.
The hostel was clean, neat, and quaint. There were lots of towels and bedsheets as well as other amenities (hairdryer, curling iron, etc). This was a great AirBnB experience and I would recommend it again. Aram is extremely accommodating and very reachable (we could communicate with him through text or Whatsapp or AirBnB). He even checked in on us once we arrived to see if we were ok.
The lodge was great, it was our first time in New York and it was perfect! In a perfect area literally a two minute walk to the subway and gets you anywhere so easy. The place was just as explained the size was great for 6 of us. The beds are extremely comfortable. The only downside was the dishes weren't washed when we arrived so we had to do them, but didn't bother us to much!!
We never really had to bother Aram but when we did he answered right away, he was very nice! I would recommend it to anyone.
Hopefully we will get to return soon!
