Welcome to our rustic home in this unique setting overlooking the break at Shipwreck's Beach. Great waves to surf when they're rolling in...great beaches, swimming and wind surfing when they're not. The desert meets the sea here so there's burros and sea turtles on the beach, and cactus, wildflowers and beautiful arroyos to explore. The neighborhood is a pleasant mix of Mexican ranchers & fishermen, and local gringos & surfers. The casita is about 10' x 12' with two twin beds which can be attached to make a king. We can also provide you with another cot and/or pitch you an extra tent if you're traveling with a larger group. The room is a separate and private dwelling about 30' from the main house, where you'll find shower, coffee, WiMAX/WiFi all included in price, as well as parking.
With a day or so advance notice breakfast is also available 'til noon, as well as lunches and and/or dinners. We hope to meet you soon! Elena & León

Such a great experience! Cool people, amazing beaches and fantastic food. The palapa is super comfortable too. Not for 5 star resort lovers but that's not what your looking for when you head out there. It's for adventure!
The location of Leon and Elena's is astounding and special. The way the desert, sea, and sky come together is other-worldly and one of the highlights of my life's trips. While I was there, I was in awe of the humpback whales off shore, the brilliant night sky, and stark desert beauty.
The sleeping accommodations were charming and simple: a comfortable, spacious bed in a thatched roof palapa that felt like an ideal combination of shelter and open air freedom. The common area in the main building was a favorite place of mine with a hammock, curios, and a stunning, panoramic view of the Sea of Cortez.
I was visiting at a time when I required a certain amount of privacy and Elena and Leon were respectful of this. What I hadn't anticipated were the earnest, easy discussions and kind, funny, and generous nature of my hosts. They are lovely people that I looked forward to visiting and eating with each day. The food Elena prepared was fresh, delicious, and plentiful.
The snorkeling at Cabo Pulmo, a few miles north, was world class and the region's lifeforms (plant, animal, and marine) were incredible.I could have spent many more days exploring the region while looking forward to coming back to home base to rest and refuel.
I had a fantastic stay with Leon and Elena. The property has incredible views and easy access to the beach and arroyo. Many interesting and well crafted structures to admire and discuss. Excellent fresh, creative, and nutritious food if you opt for that, which I would highly recommend. A great opportunity to experience being away and off the grid, and see how nice and easy and comfortable that can be. Great location to relax and enjoy. Sit back and watch the waves and whales, and cows, goats, hummingbirds, geckos... Also, great opportunities for exploring within an hour or so. Leon and Elena are perfect hosts. Fun and interesting and knowledgeable and relaxed and warm. I really enjoyed my time with them. Great experience. Very highly recommend.
Just lovely! Exactly what I was expecting- open, quiet and serene. It's not for everyone- you have to enjoy you're own company to enjoy a place this out of the way. The road was a bit tricky, but totally doable with my rental. Once you're here it's ocean, sun, whales, clean air, delicious food and warm hosts. Leon and Elena were lovely. I'd go again in a heartbeat!
A true learning experience from two generous and caring individuals... Not for everyone mind you, but for me, memorable moments to last a life time! Mucho gracias Leon & Elena!!
My fiance and I really enjoyed our time with León and Elena. They are both very kind, friendly, and gracious hosts. Their property is a wonderful, relaxing, rustic spot with an incredible view. We enjoyed watching whales breech offshore while laying in our bed in the palapa. If you are looking for a mega resort experience, this is not your place. However, if you are looking to relax in a beautiful, natural, serene desert environment overlooking a really nice beach; this where you want to go. The snorkeling directly off the point, about a 2 minute walk, was great. The beach and the desert was beautiful. The guest palapa was a great little area to sleep and hang out in. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. León and Elena's property was about 25 to 30 min outside of San Jose Del Cabo and about 45 to 55 to Cabo San Lucas. Elena was a great cook, we enjoyed all the meals that we ate there. All in all, we would definitely recommend this property.
I now want to live in a Palapa for good! The place was everything promised. Leon and Elena are excellent hosts and as people have said on here, Elena is a wonderful cook and makes delicious, healthy meals every night. You won't get this quality anywhere else, or for the price. Dining on fresh scallops, yellowtail sashimi, shrimp just out of the ocean, really added to the experience of feeling like I was on vacation in a tropical paradise. I loved the Palapa. I was able to stretch out on a huge king sized bed and fall asleep to the ocean under a sky full of stars. It hangs on the cliff just over the ocean. When I wasn't on the beach, I was sitting under the shaded awning watching whales, painting or simply reading with fresh breezes keeping me cool. It is true peaceful tranquility, the kind you can't get at a hotel. And there is lots to do - kayaking, snorkeling, horseback riding, swimming with dolphins, movie nights under the stars, art walks. This is the place to go for the real Baha, off the beaten track and absolutely beautiful.
Absolutely loved it! I had originally book my stay for 4 nights and ended up staying 16. Leon, Elena and Elenas daughter Alicia were lovely, really made my stay there a pleasure. Elena is a great cook the meal she prepared were healthy & delicious. Everything was fresh and the ceviche was the best I've had! The Palapa has the best view there overlooking the ocean you can watch the sunrise from bed. I would suggest having a rental car just makes it easier for you to get around and explore other parts of the beautiful coast. There is a a small community out there full of really nice people and on wednesday nights they have a cinema night, really cool you sit on the beach and they project a movie onto a big screen. I was quite spoilt with the whale season being on whilst i was there, daily from my room i could see the whales breaching. The beach is basically yours very few other people around so was a great place to relax and snorkel. Im really looking forward to going back!! Would of stayed longer if i had the time.
This place was amazing! only 45 minutes from the San Jose del Cabo airport, but it felt like a different world. Amazing beach, quiet dirt roads, and very few people. Watching whales jump out of the water from your bed is definitely an experience not to be missed.
Elena and Leon were great hosts, I can't wait to go back!
What a great and relaxing week we had with Elena and Leon! Beautiful views, great food, tasty drinks.... Oh it was the most perfect vacation in an authentic, rustic setting. I can't wait to go back!
