Energy Efficient Vacation! Our commitment to reducing the house carbon footprint continues. We took a big step in 2009, replacing our oil heat/hot water system with propane and a 96% efficient condensing boiler. This allowed us to switch to gas cooking at the same time! Sun shades in front (east) bay windows keep the house cool & comfy. We have added cool, dimmable LED ceiling lights, attic insulation and air sealing. We have purchased 100% renewable New England electricity from our utility since 2010. More information available upon request.
Family friendly; Casual fun is expected, big parties are not. Smoking not allowed inside the house. There are fine furnishings, kitchenware, and supplies at the house so we hope our guests will treat the house with the same respect that we do. In the unlikely event that you use up paper towels, a favorite spice, cooking gas (for BBQ grill), or other supplies, we hope that you will replace that item for the next visitor's convenience just as you would wish others to do for you. We would reimburse you for cooking gas refill.
About the Host, David
We live in the Boston area, hailing originally from New York (David) and St. Louis (Susan). Susan has been visiting Martha's Vineyard religiously since the 1980s so is a great guide. We were down for her birthday when we found this amazing house in 2003. We love kayaking, biking, playing tennis in season and hiking hidden treasures at all times of the year. We also enjoy grilling fresh fish and preparing local produce, relaxing away from daily hassles of home and have outfitted the house for our comforts as well as yours.
