My husband and I rented this little studio apartment during our trip to Spain to be near our daughter who lives just around the corner. It worked for our purposes and mostly met our expectations. I'm glad that we didn't spend any more on the nightly rate. We had rented a more spacious apartment earlier in our stay in the same neighborhood for just a few dollars more each night.
The host, Ulises, was easy to communicate with and met us at the apartment right on time. The apartment is located right in the Latina neighborhood with the Rastro street market literally out the front door of the apartment building. One thing guests should know is that the apartment is on the 4th floor (5th floor to us) with no elevator and very narrow, challenging wooden stairs. Luckily we only had to carry the suitcases up the one time, but is quite a hard walk up.
The apartment is essentially one room with a tiny bathroom with a sliding door and a kitchenette. The room has plenty of shelf storage for unpacking suitcases. The bathroom is tiny but functional, although the shower door was broken (I think) replaced by a thin sheet of plastic that didn't work very well. The bed was not as comfortable as we would have like as it is not super supportive.
Basically, this worked for us because of the location and the price.
This is a really nice, cute and wonderful place to stay at Madrid. The location is near to the La Latina metro station. And we can walk to the Puerta del Sol. Everything you need is in the house. Ulises is really nice and helpful. He decorated the house and make it just like my home in Madrid. And its really clean!!
For the price of almost 70,- per night (including € 25,- Airbnb costs) you can get a also a nice hotel in Madrid, but if you want to feel at home and have the freedom to cook your own meals, then this apartment is definitely a worthy alternative. Yes, it's 8 stairs and 91 steps, but you might need that kind of damage control in a city where there are so many good restaurants and you get your tapas with every round of drinks you order.
The apartment is small but it has everything you need. Ulises provides 1 big towel, so you might want to buy detergent and use the washing machine. The bathroom is the smallest of small (who knew you could fit so many essentials in such a space) but the shower is hot and comfortable. My side of the bed was okay (left), the right side apparently not so. There are plenty of windows to let in fresh air after a warm day. The location is top notch! Plaza de Cascorro is in walking distance of Metrostation La Latina, Plaza Mayor, Lavapies and so many more. El Rastro is literally on your doorstep on Sundays.
Ulises was very flexible with the arrival and departure even a miscommunication (AM instead of PM) proved not to be a problem. He is also very friendly. We would definitely recommend this apartment to everyone who plans to visit Madrid (we would definitely recommend Madrid also).
We stayed 3 nights with 2 persons.
Great location, very nice apartment and Ulises was very helpful.
everything was fine. Ulises was very helpful, and the flat was vey central and calm.
And Madrid rocks!! :)
I stayed Ulises's room for 3 nights and I end sightseeing from his room.
I thought his room was suitable for long stay. If you want to cook yourself, you can go super market and use kitchen, If you need to wash cloths, you can use laundry machine and iron.
His room is well equipped.
I loved Ulises apartment, it's in a great area close to everything in Madrid. Great shower, great bed, great kitchen. Ulises is a great guy as well. Highly recommended!
Very convenient location, in walking distance to basically everything. And close to La Latina metro station which can take you anywhere you like. The heating was good. :)
Beautiful apartment! In a great location, walking distance to everything central. Me & my girlfriend had a wonderful time, would highly recommend this to anyone looking to have an enjoyable stay in Madrid
Small and basic but provides everything you will need for your stay! We did laundry here and detergent, a clothes rack, and an iron were conveniently provided. The flights of stairs can be exhausting after a day of adventure (or carrying luggage), but remember - it's healthy! The shower is tiny and depending on how much hot water you use, you might need to wait for the water to reheat for a second individual. Very quiet complex. Ulises was great and very responsive!
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
