There are no 'rules' per se - aside from according my house the respect you would your own home. It's pretty easygoing here - think staying with a friend-of-a-friend rather than some crabby old landlady and her mutt.
I will, however, need to make a copy your passports (stored on my computer) - for your security and mine.
In 2007 I ran away to Morocco and ended up on the Atlantic coast in the Berber fishing village of Mirleft. After two months of sun, sea, fantastic food and bundles of Berber bonhomie I decided that this was where I wanted to live. So I sold my rabbit hutch in London and with the proceeds, much help from fabulous new friends, and a crash course in French and Berber I built a house by the sea.
I now live here on a pretty permanent basis with my young and very friendly rescue dog Charlie. A typical day comprises Charlie rollicking on a neighbouring beach while I’ll either be working as a freelance journalist in London (via wi-fi) or on the upkeep of the house.
After several years living on Morocco's SW coast (and from researching for travel features) I am now very knowledgeable about the region and fully integrated into the local Berber community - the latter being extremely easy to achieve just by being friendly and up for a laugh. And while my day-to-day is largely 'European' I have inevitably adopted the Berber mantra "imik, imik" ('slowly, slowly') - i.e. life is pretty relaxed.
So if you're looking for a friendly, secluded spot to snooze to the swashing of the sea both Charlie and I would be happy to have you here.
