"Location, Location, Location"
On the seaward side of the little village of Tanaunella, a few kilometers south of Budoni, Villa Cristian is one of a select group of individually owned Villas, each with their own pool that share an A tennis court. The village has a choice of restaurants and a supermarket and is a little over 1km from white sand beaches backed by shady pine trees.
This air conditioned, single storey villa is set in pretty gardens with lawn and flower beds and open views. Decorated in attractive shades of turquoise and deep blue, the open plan living area is furnished with a comfortable sofabed, which can accommodate an extra guest, dining table and chairs and an uncluttered sweep of kitchen cupboards and surfaces with a full cooker, dishwasher and large fridge freezer. The two bedrooms, one double and one with bunk beds and a 3rd fold up bed share a prettily tiled shower room, where the washing machine is stationed.
As sharply furnished, comfortable and cool as Villa Cristian is inside, the majority of time in the warm summer months is spend outside and it is here that this Villa’s facilities really come into their own, as the pitched roof extends out from the French windows and to the side of the house to form a lovely L shaped outside living space. Furnished with rattan lounging furniture and wood dining furniture this shady terrace extends to the very edge of the gorgeous 10m x 4.5m pool (parents of small children please take note). With roman step entry and depth of 1.20m - 1.95m, the pool is surrounded by a terrace of local stone and furnished with sunbeds.
Just 500m away Tanaunella village has a supermarket and a choice of restaurants and an excellent pizzeria, if you prefer to eat at home. Down amongst the pine trees on the edge of the sand there is another excellent restaurant serving food all day and into the evening. The beaches in this area are truly beautiful and it is very pleasant in the evening to walk along the edge of the water into Budoni, the nearest small resort to enjoy the street markets and bars.

Tanaunella & Budoni, Sardinia
Squeezed between the mountains to the west and a coast of turquoise sea and white sand beaches to the east, sleepy Tanaunella village sits just 2 kms south of the better known and somewhat larger resort of Budoni. If you like to stay off the beaten track but with the opportunity of a simple occasional foray into a fully fledged holiday resort then a stay at Tanaunella may just fit the bill.
It’s said that the original folk of Tanaunella had an unusually close liaison between the sea farers and the mountain dwellers and there was once a nuragic village on this site. The present day village still runs along similar lines with narrow streets leading up hill to the Church. Amongst the shady streets are a couple of supermarkets, a bank, gelatoria/café, Pizzeria and a couple of restaurants, one of which La Volpe (Sardinian for Fox) has acquired an excellent reputation in this area. Below the village, pine trees border the natural white sand beaches of the lovely bay. Picnic tables spaced out amongst the trees offer shady retreats at lunch time or if you fancy something more substantial then there is a convenient beach restaurant (also open in the evening). A number of simple beach bars along the bay serve cool drinks and simple snacks.
20 mins walk along the beach brings you into the sunbed furnished stretches of Budoni beach. A justifiably popular small resort Budoni is a buzzing little town, not overgrown but with all the facilities that one would expect of an Italian beach resort. With shops, restaurants, and banks, wind surfing and rocky coves for snorkeling, Budoni also has its own scuba diving school and during the months of July and August its streets close to traffic at night and stallholders set out their trinkets in multicoloured dispalys and their is occasional street entertainment with music or dancing. It makes for a very pleasant excursion to walk along the sandy bay to sample its delights, maybe enjoying a meal of the freshest fish at one of the trattorias on the beach front and an ice cream before retreating to the calm of your chosen surroundings.
Drive south of Tanaunelle for15 mins and the ruined castle at Posada makes for a pleasant local excursion. Or head off into the natural beauty of the mountains. Go north to visit the exclusive Costa Smeralda, shop where the rich and famous shop (you’ll need a deep purse!) and marvel at the sleek array of sailing yachts moored off shore. Southbound, at Cala Gonone, visit the Blue Marino Grotto or take the taxi boat to the lovely beach of Cala Lune.

Hi, our names are Diane (rear left) Paul (rear right) Chris C (front left) & Chris L (front right) together we are the team at Freelance Holidays: We've been in the villa rental business since 1984, and are still going strong.
Since 1984 we have been keen as mustard about seeking and offering the best villa rentals in the best locations. In the beginning these were simple village houses and studios in Crete, and some villas in Mallorca. over the years we have added more choices of Mediterranean islands where we have sourced some great villas. Tastes have changed and we are now able to offer some fantastic villas, each with something special and different from the mass market operators usual selection. We have continued to keep our roots and proudly continue to offer typical village accommodation
