The Space

You'll have your own private space within our home—a cozy spot to retreat with no interruptions. It's clean, quiet, completely outfitted with kitchen supplies, high-quality bedding and linens, and it sleeps two comfortably (can fit four people, but it'd be a little tight).

Guest Access

You'll have a parking area and your own private entrance. You'll also have your own back deck.

Interaction with Guests

We live upstairs and will share just the front door. You'll see us as much or as little as you'd like.

The Neighborhood

It's quiet but extremely close to downtown Tahoe City. We're less than a mile to the shores of Lake Tahoe and just steps from the Truckee River. You can walk to the Tahoe House for the best coffee in town, pick up organic groceries at nearby New Moon, or stroll into town along a trail on the Truckee River or the paved bike path for a beer at the Bridgetender. Hiking or biking trail access to Page Meadows and the Tahoe Rim Trail is literally a block away. In the winter, we're a 10 minute drive to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows.

Getting around

We're walking distance to Tahoe City's main public transit center, where TART busses will deliver you to nearby ski areas, Truckee, and elsewhere around Lake Tahoe.

Other Things to Note

We're avid mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, paddle boarders, and backcountry skiers and we can help point you in the right direction for all of your Tahoe outdoor activities.

Check In
  • We really enjoyed staying at the Close-to-Town Tahoe Hideaway. We walked to the bakery in the morning for coffee and during the day to downtown where we grabbed lunch on the Truckee. The accommodations were beautifully decorated and everything smelled like Lavender! The mattress was very comfortable and everything was very clean and neat. Megan was incredibly responsive and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend staying here-fantastic getaway spot!

  • Absolutely loved this place. Perfectly located just outside of Tahoe City. Great decor and very clean. Will definitely be staying again.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Tahoe City Hideaway. The apartment was super clean and cozy. I loved the rustic vintage décor. The location is peaceful and quite, however it’s just minutes away from town and the lake. Megan and Dan made the check in and check out process easy. I would definately skip the big resorts, and stay at the Tahoe City Hideaway again. Thanks Megan and Dan!

  • We had a perfect little vacation at Megan and Dan's! The apartment is clean, cozy, had beautiful views and anything you need. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and the host provided nice shampoo and conditioner. It is close to town and there is even a lovely hike right at the end of the street! Megan is extremely helpful and sweet. She have us really detailed directions to her favourite hikes in the area! We loved it so much that we decided to stay an extra day! We will definitely be back!

  • We had a great time. The place is really nice, clean and well equipped with everything you need. Although we didn't even see our hosts, the check-in and out was super easy. Would definitely stay there again.

  • Great hosts, great, cozy, clean, convenient spot. Coffee in place on arrival, boot/glove dryer in the unit, plenty of dishes, kitchen basics, can't think of anything I'd do to improve it. Stay there NOW!

  • Megan and Dan accommodated us on short notice, myself, wife, daughter and Cooper our little pup. Place was as described. They gave us a price break for all of us, which was nice, for two nights. Nice and close to everything in Tahoe City. Loved the supplied soaps and shampoos ; )!
    Thanks Megan and Dan.

  • We loved staying here and our hosts answered all of our questions very quickly. We will stay here again next time we are in Tahoe for sure.

  • Megan and Dan were lovely, as was their dog Charlie (although we only saw her once). They were quiet and accommodating. The place was clean, warm, and the bed was really comfortable. Bonus for the double sink bathroom. Five minute drive to Tahoe City downtown. Close to all ski resorts. We will definitely stay here again.

  • We loved staying here! Megan was incredibly helpful and responsive to emails, and the apartment is cute, clean, and perfectly located. We could easily walk to grocery stores or restaurants but still got to enjoy the peace and quiet of staying in a more remote place. The living room / back deck has a really pretty view into woods behind the house.
