Mountain amazement and only a short walk to the family friendly Bucksnort Saloon. Cozy, rustic, and even romantic! Great mountain retreat, watering hole and exploring!
There is a wood burning stove and propane fireplace, footbridges, and tons of windows throughout the cabin. The little cabin is still a bit rustic, but is quite cozy as it is and has a lot of character.
Full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender, rice steamer and just about everything else you might need to cook a Christmas feast. There are various spices and staples for use such as eggs, milk, rice, olive oil, etc. depending on the time of year. Yes you will see a big beautiful bathtub in the pictures, but unfortunately our water supply and drainage does not support the use of it = sorry strictly no baths, great hot showers only!
One small but cozy bedroom with lots of windows and a queen size bed. A closet with hangers and fresh linens and towels.
You will get to enjoy the yard and cabin including everything in it. We have Netflix, and wi-fi. We do not have cable TV.
Check out our other listing... we have just added our Mountain Cottage home to AirBNB, which is just 5 minutes from Red Rocks Amphitheater. It's a great little home if you're going to a show or looking to explore the Lariat Loop by car or bicycle!
The roads are county maintained all but one mile to the cabin. There are residents that maintain the last mile. We have had only one storm in the last 4 years that we couldn't get our 2wd car over the last hill and had to walk the last bit. So,
we feel pretty confident that if you book during the winter, you shouldn't have a problem getting to the cabin.
We like to give our guests privacy and will check you in and leave you to enjoy the area and the cabin to yourselves. We live about 45 minutes from the cabin so please keep allow time for us to get up there or find alternative solutions if you come across any issues.
There is not any public transport that comes to this location. Once you get here though, you don't really want to get back in the car if you don't have to. We have lots to see in this area so stop for food/beverages on your way here and plan on being able to relax.
There is lots of wildlife in the area. We are in such a cool mountain area that feels so remote, yet has times where you feel like you're lucky enough to be a part of the excitement of this unique location. People are very friendly. The Bucksnort Saloon is family friendly so don't hesitate to book the cabin to see some live music or sip a beer with a friend.
Every year, the Forest Service sell permits to cut your own tree in Buffalo Creek (approx 5 mi from Cabin). Kids get to meet Smokey the Bear, you can stop at the Fire Department to get your photo taken with Santa and have some hot coco.
Make a mini-vacation of it and book the cabin! Cutting dates: November 23 through December 9
* Bucksnort changes its hours and days of operation seasonally and sometimes weekly. Please call to find out if they will be open if that is on the top of your wish list during your visit to the cabin.
*The Bucksnort is a big destination location and the area gets many visitors over the weekends. During the week it is much quieter in the area.
* As with many small mountain towns you will likely not have cellular service. You may have limited service depending on your carrier however, you will get service in the town of Pine one mile away.
* The toilet is a brand new clean RV toilet. This mean it works with gravity so it uses less water, otherwise, it's just like a regular toilet. (not a big deal, just giving full disclosure).
* Our mountain location does not have the top of the line internet speed. But we have no problems with it.
* We are off the grid as far as water goes. Our water is trucked in and operates off of an electric water pump. But you shouldn't notice a difference from any other house.
* The cabin is about 100 yrs. old and does have low ceilings in the far end of the kitchen and bedroom. If you're over 6'3 you might feel like a mighty giant in those nooks of the cabin.
A note from us: We've loved sharing our little cabin and we've met such a fantastic group of people hosting through AirBnb. I (the wifey wife) especially get warm fuzzies knowing we've made our guests happy and comfy. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make a more comfortable stay throughout your stay or for future stays/guests. We appreciate any feedback.
One more final note:
This cabin is so much fun because of the fact that it is off the grid and so rustic, but this also means that we sometimes have to deal with small
issues such as pumping or filling of tanks, frozen pipes in the winter, or deep snow. 99% of the time we keep things going flawlessly and it just adds to the adventure, but if you are looking for a boring, perfectly predictable, mundane place with no charactor you should consider staying at a hotel instead. Cheers!
charming cottage in an incredible community. task met us there promptly and warmly welcomed our little family. we went on a number of hikes and checked out the lake a few miles away. we definitely recommend this spot for a winter getaway and hope to return next winter months.
I can't say enough about how wonderful this cabin/ these hosts are! Our stay at this beautiful, peaceful cabin was amazing! Bryon and Tash were excellent hosts who really wanted to make sure everything was perfect for our stay. We stayed several days and hiked the scenic area right around the cabin as well as Pine Valley Ranch Park (with trails leading into the Pike National Forest)-- what an amazing, gorgeous area! I would recommend Tash and Bryon as hosts to anyone and the cabin is so cozy you will never want to leave! We went to the Bucksnort and Zoka, as recommended by our hosts, and both places were great. My husband had an amazing birthday dinner at Zoka-- he swears they were the best ribs/bbq sauce he's ever had! Additionally, we checked out Pine Emporium, a great thrift/antique store and could've spent hours browsing. Just a really cool area; can't wait to go back!!
We had a really great time staying at Bryon and Tash's cabin. They are the type of hosts you feel like you already know, and they made the space very nice and cozy for us. Despite the intrinsic awesomeness of hiding out in a small mountain town, it was really their hospitality that made our stay special. They provided everything from maps and directions to drinking water and condiments, and it was all very nicely kept. You could tell that plenty of care went into making sure we had everything we could need, and also many things we would want. I can't recommend this place enough, but you better hurry and make your reservation before my husband and I book it through the rest of the year!
An absolutely fantastic experience! A perfect mountain getaway and terrific hosts. Highly recommended! Thank you for everything!
So glad that we selected this cabin! My boyfriend and I were visiting from London (formerly lived in CO)...it was the perfect escape from the city! When we arrived Bryon and Tash met us with coffee and breakfast. They showed us around the cabin and made us feel at home immediately. We had no issues finding what we needed while there. The area is full of great hikes and we would suggest the new state park.
We had a blast staying here. It's a quiet place that has a lot of character. First step into the door and it felt like home instantly. The area that the cabin is in something else. Its in a very small cluster of cabins that are centered around beautiful Elk Creek. Right down the road is a great little saloon called the Bucksnort Saloon, which was built in the 1800's. Great food, great beer and great atmosphere. If you want some amazing food travel south out to Pine which is only a few miles away and stop in at Zoka's Bar & Restaurant. It was awesome! We loved the area so much we've started looking for a Cabin to call our own. Give their place a go, you won't be disappointed I promise.
My boyfriend and I wanted a vacation that was away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We found this place and knew it would be perfect! Bryon and Tash were so accommodating! The cabin was perfect, warm, and cozy. There was plenty to do around the area within walking distance such as several hiking trails, the Bucksnort (a must!), and just enjoying nature around you.
We enjoyed spending the early afternoons hiking and visiting other towns, then would come back and spend the evening cooking dinner and playing games or watching movies. It was a wonderful time!
Bryon and Tash have the most wonderful rustic, cute, cosy mountain cabin set in a picturesque setting, we are envious!
We had such a relaxing, comfortable time in the cabin for the week we stayed and we really didn't want to go home.
Perfect for getting away from it all and exploring the beautiful surrounds of Pine and if you want some good music and social atmosphere then the Bucksnort is just down the road.
Tash was the perfect host and couldn't do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Both my husband and I have travelled the world and we can honestly say this really is a hidden gem.
All the very best Byron and Tash, we hope one day we can offer you the same hospitality in NZ. :)
A wonderful little get-away from Denver. Less than an hour's drive to the tiny "town" of Sphinx Park, which is about a dozen houses and the Bucksnort. The cabin is cozy and well equipt. It is quite close to several other cabins, but feels private. We'd go back for sure.
This was my first experience with AirBNB and I couldn't have had a better one. This is an incredible cabin. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a getaway that's not too far away but feels perfectly set in nature among a very quiet and peaceful community. Tash was a perfect host.
