A queen size sofa sleeper is also provided for the additional occupants. The bathtub and shower are all yours. The main room has a couch with built-in recliners and cable television, with your own dvr. The wall of windows provides a view of a spacious backyard with organic gardens and fruit trees.(PLease note, this is seasonal!) You are welcome to enjoy the harvest! You will have fresh eggs from the chickens that lay daily. (In the winter and short daylight hours the chickens stop laying.) The giant kitchen, with breakfast bar, is great for relaxing and cooking your own meals from the farmers bounty that the Ojai valley has to offer. The entire property sits off the street in a quiet residential neighborhood, but close to all the necessities.
Just around the corner, as you enter the neighborhood, is a walking/bike path that follows the main road into town. You can ride the local Trolley, Bus, or rent bicycles in town. There are 2 coffee shops, within walking distance(1mile), Vons grocery store just over a mile away and many great restaurants, one being The Ranch House, within .5 mile, in the quaint Meiners Oaks area of Ojai. I would be happy to recommend something to satisfy your cravings. We are located just 2 miles from the center of Ojai, with shopping, dining and a beautiful park to enjoy. There are many festivals that take place at Libbey Park all summer long so there is always something fun happening. The Ojai playhouse movie theater shows the latest hits, and you can walk next door to the Jester restaurant for some music many nights a week. Grab some ice cream or frozen yogurt and walk through the park along the bike path or find a bench to rest on. Farmers Market, on sunday, is a bustling treasure with goodies from the valley and beyond.
Beat the heat at Lake Casitas, with boat and kayak rentals, fishing, and their own water park!! Ojai has a great network of trails for hiking and mountain biking as well. Route 33 is a gateway to a beautiful wilderness, and a stunning drive if you are not interested in exploring on foot. Ojai has 2 award winning golf courses.
The beach is just 12 miles away in beautiful Ventura, with many surf points to explore and tons of sand for lounging. The bike path even extends all the way to the beach so if you're up for a ride your destination can be rewarding!! Ventura also has many great restaurants and brew houses, movies, shopping, and more. There are whale watching excursions, kayak rental and scenic tours that are available in the Ventura or Channel Islands Harbors.
Come, stay, enjoy the beauty of the Ojai Valley and my backyard oasis!!
Martha (email hidden) and the home (email hidden) that includes all ammentities. It is the perfect launch pad to a great weekend in Ojai!
Martha was an amazing hostess. Her home is beautiful and private. Great access to all Ojai has to offer. Highly recommended.
We had such a wonderful stay in Ojai for our second honeymoon. We slept peacefully and deeply. The bed is very comfortable. It was nice to have all that space and Martha was charming and comfortable to be with. I loved the quietness and although she has chickens, we did not hear them. BUT we got to eat the farm-fresh eggs. Delicious! And she had organic butter the the frig which I used to cook them. We only saw Martha once. The rest of the time we were on our own. And Ojai is definitely the place to clear your mind. We loved the whole experience.
Martha was (email hidden) (she welcomed us with fresh picked oranges, eggs from her chickens, and magazines about Ojai - we couldn't ask for anything better!) . The place was wonderful and cozy - a perfect getaway for us and our pups. If you are looking for a respite 1 hour outside of Los Angeles, we highly recommend it.
Martha and her family are very personable and they have three friendly dogs. The mother-in-law apartment is simple, but very comfortable.
We had a wonderful time in Ojai at Martha's lovely place. It is a great location, with views of the matilija sandstone hills, a walk to the fun little village at Meiner's Oaks, and the great cafe/natural food store The Farmer and the Cook. . . and only minutes to downtown Ojai. It was also a nice walk/bike or short drive over to the Ventura River Preserve, with it network of trails under the glorious backdrop of the western end of the Topa Topa mountain range. Needless to say WE LOVE OJAI and having Martha's place to be was super—everything we needed, well organized, comfortable very quiet, and spacious—and some fresh produce from her garden, and a lot of delicious citrus fruit everywhere. AND Martha is a special person; who is very responsive to any needs we had, fun, good natured and really on top of making it a warm welcoming place to call home.
Thank you so much for coming. I was honestly sad coming home and not having you both here. Your peacefulness and warmth were present at all times and I enjoyed coming home knowing that everything was in order while I was away from my house! Blessing to you on your life journey!
Martha's apartment was a lovely home away from home for me for eight days! Martha was a warm, hospitable, and generous host wanting to make sure I had everything I needed. The place was spacious, clean, private and comfortable. Wonderful comfortable bed and great water pressure in shower. I felt very safe there and enjoyed the quiet of the neighborhood. Martha's dogs (which she offered to cage them if I was more comfortable ) were sweet personalities to welcome me home each day. There was a gate to manually open and close upon entering the property. Fruit trees abound (yummy!). I enjoyed the bright stars and clean air at night outside. Note to women: bring hair dryer and hair showering products.
We had a great visit. The town of Ojai is a real gem. Loved the Historical walk hosted by the local museum and we also visited a Olive Oil farm. Martha supplied us with lots of information on the town and we enjoyed our visit.
Thank You Martha.
Martha's place (email hidden) to stay in Ojai especially if you want a kitchen. Go to the Farmer's Market on Sunday (2 miles to the main part of town from Martha's) and bring back fresh produce, honey, cheese, etc. The house is quiet, roomy, and has a nice fenced yard that my dog enjoyed. Unfortunately, in December the fruit trees were full with not quite ripe fruit and no chicken eggs, but otherwise it'(email hidden) to make yourself feel at home. Martha is nice and helpful if you need. I hope to go again and will tell my friends.
Great place to rest our heads after our family Christmas. The home is very lovely. The bed was very, very comfy and I loved cooking on your old refurbished stove.
